Article Synopsis
  • * A case study discusses a 28-year-old woman who experienced progressive abdominal swelling and underwent surgery after imaging suggested a cyst; multiple uterine leiomyomas were confirmed through histology.
  • * Detection of abdominal masses that may mimic cysts, especially with characteristics like a pedicle sign, should lead to consideration of subserosal leiomyomas, particularly in young women with no signs of pregnancy or malignancy.

Article Synopsis
  • Umbilical endometriosis, also known as Villar's nodule, occurs when endometrial tissue is found in the umbilicus, affecting 0.5%-1% of endometriosis cases, and can be categorized as primary or secondary based on a patient's surgical history.
  • A significant case is presented involving a 30-year-old woman who had symptoms consistent with primary umbilical endometriosis for five years, which was confirmed through histological examination and found to coexist with a uterine fibroid.
  • For women of reproductive age presenting umbilical pain and nodules linked to their menstrual cycle, primary umbilical endometriosis should be considered, with surgery being the preferred treatment that can vary depending on the

Non-acquired immunodeficiency syndrome-defining cancers (NADCs) are malignancies in persons living with human immunodeficiency virus (PLWHIV) and are not primarily due to the host's immunodeficiency. There is renewed clinical interest in long-term morbidities in PLWHIV as well as malignancies that occur in this population. We herein describe a 36-year-old woman with a 2-year history of an anal wound and right breast mass.

Purpose: The application of radiotherapy to the treatment of cancer requires the knowledge of photon interaction coefficients such as mass attenuation (μ) and mass energy-absorption coefficients (μ/ρ). Although these coefficients have been determined for different tissues, it is lacking for the colorectal cancer (CRC) tissue in the literature. This study determines the μ and μ/ρ for the CRC tissue within the radiotherapy energy range.
