Managing Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease during pregnancy with steroid pulse therapy: A case report.

Background: High-dose steroid administration is a common initial therapeutic approach for Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease (VKH). Nonetheless, administering substantial doses of steroids to pregnant women necessitates meticulous consideration due to the potential impacts on the mother and fetus. We present a case wherein steroid pulse therapy was administered to a patient who developed VKH during the late stages of pregnancy.

[Thoracic Endovascular Aneurysm Repair Using the Concomitant Chimney Technique for Blunt Thoracic Aortic Injury:Report of a Case].

Blunt thoracic aortic injury (BTAI) is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Recently, minimally invasive thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) has been reported to be a safe surgical treatment for acute BTAI. Here, we report the success of TEVAR using the concomitant chimney technique for BTAI.

Unlabelled: imaging of bacterial infection models enables noninvasive and temporal analysis of individuals, enhancing our understanding of infectious disease pathogenesis. Conventional imaging methods for bacterial infection models involve the insertion of the bacterial luciferase LuxCDABE into the bacterial genome, followed by imaging using an expensive ultrasensitive charge-coupled device (CCD) camera. However, issues such as limited light penetration into the body and lack of versatility have been encountered.

Uterine artery pseudoaneurysm caused by hysteroscopic surgery: A case report.

Background: We report a case of uterine artery pseudoaneurysm (UAP) occurrence during hysteroscopic endometrial polypectomy and its treatment uterine artery embolization (UAE).

Case Summary: A 48-year-old primigravid, primiparous patient was incidentally found to have an endometrial polyp during a health checkup, and underwent a hysteroscopic polypectomy at another hospital. Her cervix was dilated with a Laminken-R device.

[Surgery for a Missile Embolus in the Right Ventricle].

Ballistic embolism represents an unusual complication of vascular by a flying object injury. Because embolus is remote from injury site, the occurrence of missile embolus may be overlooked and lead to delay in diagnosis of significant ischemia or embolism. We herein report a successful surgical removal of a rare missile embolus from the upper arm in the right ventricle.

Mid-term outcomes of laparoscopic vaginal stump–round (Kakinuma method) and stump–uterosacral (Shull method) ligament fixation for pelvic organ prolapse: A retrospective comparative study.

Background: Laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy (LSC) and robot-assisted sacrocolpopexy (RSC) using mesh are popular approaches for treating pelvic organ prolapse (POP). However, it is not uncommon that native tissue repair (NTR) should be presented as an option to patients who are expected to have extensive intraperitoneal adhesion or patients for whom LSC or RSC is difficult owing to various risk factors. Laparoscopic vaginal stump-uterosacral ligament fixation (Shull method) has been introduced as a method for NTR in case of POP.

Growing Renal Vein Aneurysm Treated by Endovascular Repair: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Renal vein aneurysm (RVA) is extremely rare and often asymptomatic, disclosed only incidentally on diagnostic imaging modalities such as computed tomography and ultrasonography. Management is often just watchful follow-up, but some patients require intervention. We present the case of a 74-year-old man complaining of lower back pain in whom a 53-mm RVA was identified.

LiNA OperaScope for microwave endometrial ablation for endometrial polyps with heavy menstrual bleeding: A case report.

Background: The procedure for microwave endometrial ablation (MEA) follows established MEA practice guidelines but requires hysteroscopic observation of the uterine lumen before and after MEA. When a luminal uterine lesion is recognized, its removal requires preoperative dilation of the cervix because the outer diameter of a conventional rigid hysteroscope is 8.7 mm.

We previously developed self-organizing culture for 3D-retina generation from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs). Here we present a quality control method and preclinical studies for tissue-sheet transplantation.

A 74-years-old man visited our hospital complaining chest discomfort, and he was diagnosed with variant angina. However, during close examination, a tumor with some small calcified nodules was accidentally pointed out in the right atrium. We carried out surgical removal to prevent embolism.

[Lipomatous Hypertrophy of Interatrial Septum in Patient with Venous Thrombus:Report of a Case].

A 64-year-old female underwent a computed tomography (CT) examination of the chest because of pneumonia, which revealed lipomatous hypertrophy of the atrial septum. During medical treatment for pneumonia, venous thrombus of the superior vena cava occurred and then disappeared following apixaban administration. The patient refused surgery at that time, thus follow-up examinations include CT scans were conducted at the outpatient clinic.

The Development of a Nationwide, Multicenter Electronic Database for Spinal Instrumentation Surgery in Japan: Japanese Spinal Instrumentation Society Database (JSIS-DB).

(1) Background: Despite the number of complicated and expensive spine surgery procedures maintained by the national health insurance system in Japan, until now there has been no large-scale multicenter clinical database for this field to understand and improve healthcare expenditure and treatment outcomes. The purpose of this report is to announce the establishment and methodology of a nationwide registry system for spinal instrumentation surgeries by the Japanese Spinal Instrumentation Society (JSIS), and to report the progress over the first 1.5 years of this database's operation.

Switching from conventional therapy to burosumab injection has the potential to prevent nephrocalcinosis in patients with X-linked hypophosphatemic rickets.

Objectives: X-linked hypophosphatemic rickets (XLH) is a congenital fibroblast growth factor (FGF)23-related metabolic bone disease that is treated with active vitamin D and phosphate as conventional therapies. Complications of these therapies include nephrocalcinosis (NC) caused by excessive urine calcium and phosphate concentrations. Recently, an anti-FGF23 antibody, burosumab, was developed and reported to be effective in poorly-controlled or severe XLH patients.

[Long Term Patency of Saphenous Vein Graft Using the Automated Proximal Anastomosis System Compared with the Hand-sewn Anastomosis System].

Unlabelled: Backgrounds：The purpose of this study was to compare the long term patency of PAS-Port system with other hand-sewn anastomosis system.

Methods: From 2009 to 2018, a total of 79 anastomoses were done in coronary bypass surgery with PAS-Port system, and a total of 252 anastomoses with Enclose Ⅱ. Among them, 76 anastomoses with PAS-Port system (group P) and 246 anastomoses of enclose Ⅱ (group E) were evaluated using angiography or multislice computer tomography.

[The Third Operation for Prosthetic Valve Detachment Caused by Aortitis Syndrome without Aortic Ectasia;Report of a Case].

We report a surgical case of a 58-year-old woman with aortitis syndrome is presented. The patient had undergone aortic valve replacement (AVR) with a mechanical prosthesis. Five months later, re-AVR was performed because of prosthetic valve detachment and severe regurgitation.

Cardiac surgery in Jehovah's witnesses is challenging due to their refusal of blood transfusion. Furthermore, dialysis patients often suffer from anemia and are also prone to bleeding. We performed offpump coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) [OPCAB] on a Jehovah's witness male patient on hemodialysis.

A case of perinatal hypophosphatasia with a novel mutation in the gene: clinical course and review of the literature.

Hypophosphatasia (HPP) is a metabolic bone disease characterized by failure of bone calcification and vitamin B6 dependent seizures. It is caused by loss-of-function mutations in the gene. A newborn girl required respiratory support by nasal-directional positive airway pressure at birth, and pyridoxine hydrochloride administration for vitamin B6-dependent seizures observed from day two.

Combination of H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and principal component analysis to evaluate the lipid fluidity of flutamide-encapsulated lipid nanoemulsions.

The lipid fluidity of various lipid nanoemulsions (LNEs) without and with flutamide (FT) and containing one of two neutral lipids, one of four phosphatidylcholines as a surfactant, and sodium palmitate as a cosurfactant was investigated by the combination of H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and principal component analysis (PCA). In the H NMR spectra, the peaks from the methylene groups of the neutral lipids and surfactants for all LNE preparations showed downfield shifts with increasing temperature from 20 to 60 °C. PCA was applied to the H NMR spectral data obtained for the LNEs.
