Background: Zinner syndrome is a rare congenital anomaly featuring a unilateral seminal vesicle cyst and ipsilateral renal agenesis. While the majority of affected patients are asymptomatic and followed with conservative management, others have symptoms such as micturition, ejaculatory difficulties, and/or pain, thus may require treatment. These patients often undergo an invasive procedure as first-line treatment, such as transurethral resection of the ejaculatory duct, or aspiration and drainage, which reduces pressure within the seminal vesicle cyst, or surgical resection of the seminal vesicle.

Chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) is a molecular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) method that can generate image contrast based on the proton exchange between labeled protons in solutes and free, bulk water protons. Amide proton transfer (APT) imaging is the most frequently reported amide-proton-based CEST technique. It generates image contrast by reflecting the associations of mobile proteins and peptides resonating at 3.

Article Synopsis
  • Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) is a brain disease caused by the John Cunningham virus, which can be mistaken for other conditions like primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) and glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) on MRI scans.
  • * A pilot study assessed the effectiveness of a specific MRI technique called amide proton transfer (APT) imaging to differentiate PML from PCNSL and GBM, involving 22 patients with varying mean ages.
  • * Results indicated that APT imaging can reliably distinguish PML based on magnetization transfer ratio (MTR) values, with thresholds providing 100% diagnostic accuracy for distinguishing PML from both PCNSL and GBM.

Background: This exploratory study compared the inhibition of bone erosion progression in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients treated with a conventional synthetic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (csDMARD) plus denosumab versus csDMARD therapy alone and investigated the effects of denosumab on bone micro-architecture and other bone-related parameters using high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT).

Methods: In this open-label, randomized, parallel-group study, patients with RA undergoing treatment with a csDMARD were randomly assigned (1:1) to continue csDMARD therapy alone or to continue csDMARDs with denosumab (60-mg subcutaneous injection once every 6 months) for 12 months. The primary endpoint was the change from baseline in the depth of bone erosion, measured by HR-pQCT, in the second and third metacarpal heads at 6 months after starting treatment.

Hepatic sclerosing haemangiomas are rare benign tumours that are often difficult to distinguish from malignant tumours because these tumours do not show the typical imaging features of cavernous haemangiomas. We report a case of a sclerosing haemangioma that showed restricted diffusion and was difficult to differentiate from a malignancy. A 60-year-old female was referred to our hospital for evaluation of a hepatic mass that was incidentally diagnosed after a CT scan for right lower quadrant abdominal pain.
