: This study was conducted to determine whether a structured clinical pathway can help to safely implement minimally invasive surgery (MIS) as the standard approach in surgery for acute bowel obstruction (ABO). : A prospective analysis was performed on consecutive patients undergoing MIS for ABO at a single center in 2021 and 2022. Prior to the study onset, a structured treatment pathway was defined to apply MIS in all patients.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFAims: Functional mitral regurgitation (MR) is the second most common valvular heart disease worldwide and is increasing with age. The present study investigates the gender distribution and 1 year prognosis of older patients (≥65 years) with pharmacologically treated MR in a real-world population with moderate to severe functional MR.
Methods And Results: This a single-centre retrospective observational cohort study and included 243 medically treated patients with moderate to severe MR from 2014 to 2020.
(1) Background: Mitral regurgitation (MR) is associated with increased mortality and frequent hospital admissions. Although mitral valve intervention offers improved clinical outcomes for MR, it is not feasible in many cases. Moreover, conservative therapeutic opportunities remain limited.

In these patients, frailty might be used as a multidimensional parameter to summarize the resilience to stressors. Our objective was to evaluate frailty as a predictor of outcome in patients with moderate to severe secondary MR.

For this purpose, possibility of increased usage of healthy foods with addition of natural extracts using new techniques came out from relevant questionaries applied to people of different age groups. In this study, specific properties of supercritical carbon dioxide at distinct temperatures and water in subcritical conditions were used to obtain extracts rich in water-soluble organic compounds.

Methods: Three hundred and seventy patients who were treated with external irradiation and intracavitary brachytherapy and followed for more than 2 years between 1978 and 1998 have been recently updated. The low dose rate group consisted of 77 cases treated between 1978 and 1982 and HDR group consisted of 293 cases treated between 1982 and 1998.
This paper presents long-term results of a randomised study of ornidazole as a radiosensitiser in locally advanced carcinoma of the cervix. A total of 76 patients were randomised and followed-up with a median of 85 months. All patients were treated with external and intracavitary irradiation.

All patients received external pelvic radiotherapy and 37 patients were treated with additional vaginal cuff irradiation. The 5-year overall survival, disease-free survival and locoregional control rates were 71.
