The relationships between variables in a proposed model for the quality of nursing care provided in the home were examined using a cross-sectional correlational design. Sixty patients discharged from a home-care agency were interviewed in their homes using instruments to measure the model's 7 variables. It was proposed that nursing care provided is related to 3 aspects of the interpersonal process--affective support, health information adequacy, and decisional control--and that these 3 variables are related to 3 outcomes--adherence, symptoms, and well-being.

Factors related to compliance with the wearing of headgear and intraoral elastics were explored in a sample of 100 university clinic orthodontic patients. Data were gathered by means of a questionnaire that comprised items presumed to be associated with orthodontic compliance. These items were not patient characteristics, but variables of beliefs, attitudes, perceptions, and reasons thought to be associated with compliance.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe Ervin Quality Assessment Measure (EQAM) is a newly developed instrument that assesses the quality of in-home public health nursing care based on experts' reviews of client/family records. The 14 criteria for quality care included in the EQAM instrument were established based on the input of five nurse experts. A generalizability study of data from EQAM evaluations of 52 client/family records found that the instrument demonstrated a high degree of dependability and a modest degree of interrater agreement.
