Objective: To compare the effects of laparoscopic cystectomy on ovarian reserve between women with endometrioma and dermoid cyst.

Materials And Methods: Thirty-six patients were diagnosed as having endometrioma (group A) and 32 patients with dermoid cyst (group B) using ultrasonography. Preoperative anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) levels were measured and unilateral antral follicle counts (AFC) were calculated for the ovary side containing the cyst.

Surgical Trends in Breast Cancer in Turkey: An Increase in Breast-Conserving Surgery.

Purpose: Breast cancer is the most frequent cancer in women, and there is a great variability in surgical practice for treating that cancer in different countries. The aims of this study were to analyze the effect of guidelines from the Turkish Federation of Breast Diseases Societies on academic institutions that have breast centers and to evaluate surgical practice in Turkey in 2018.

Aging protects rat cortical slices against to oxygen-glucose deprivation induced damage.

In present study, we aimed to clarify effect of aging on the susceptibility of brain tissue to neurodegeneration induced by ischemia. Damage induced by oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) followed by reoxygenation (REO) were compared in cortical slices prepared from young (3 months of age) and aged (22-24 months of age) male Sprague Dawley rats. After incubation of the slices in an oxygen and glucose containing control condition, 2,3,5-triphenyl tetrazolium chloride (TTC) staining intensity was found significantly high in aged cortical slices.

Proteome data to explore the axolotl limb regeneration capacity at neotenic and metamorphic stages.

The presented data article reports protein expression profiles during a time course of limb regeneration in the highly regenerative neotenic and regeneration-deficient metamorphic axolotl (). A protein database was first generated from transcriptome data, which was used concomitantly with nanoLC-MS/MS to identify and assess significant changes of protein levels among 0, 1, 4, and 7 days post-amputation (dpa) in both animal stages, yielding a total of 714 significant differentially expressed proteins. Gene ontology categories of these identified proteins were examined in terms of biological processes, molecular function and cellular components.

Changes in serological bone turnover markers in bisphosphonate induced osteonecrosis of the jaws: A case control study.

Background: There are a lot study confirmed the relationship of bone serum markers changes and skeletal irregularities. But there is no sufficient case control studies about the role of these markers on bisphosphonate induced osteonecrosis of jaws (BRONJ).

[Different surgical approaches to Scimitar syndrome].

Scimitar syndrome is a rare congenital heart defect characterized by the combination of vascular, bronchial, and parenchymal malformations. This syndrome includes anomalous right pulmonary venous drainage to the inferior caval vein, hypoplastic right pulmonary artery, right lung hypoplasia and the presence of aortopulmonary collaterals to the right lung. In this study, we evaluate the different surgical approaches of 3 cases with Scimitar syndrome who was corrected successfully.

Integrative Analysis of Axolotl Gene Expression Data from Regenerative and Wound Healing Limb Tissues.

Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) is a urodele amphibian endowed with remarkable regenerative capacities manifested in scarless wound healing and restoration of amputated limbs, which makes it a powerful experimental model for regenerative biology and medicine. Previous studies have utilized microarrays and RNA-Seq technologies for detecting differentially expressed (DE) genes in different phases of the axolotl limb regeneration. However, sufficient consistency may be lacking due to statistical limitations arising from intra-laboratory analyses.

DNA Methylation in Human Breast Cancer Cell Lines Adapted to High Nitric Oxide.

Background: Nitric oxide (NO) exposure has been suggested to cause alterations in DNA methylation in breast cancer. We investigated the effect of NO on DNA methylation of promoters in cell lines of breast cancer.

Material And Methods: The methylation status of the promoters of breast cancer 1 (BRCA1), deleted in colon cancer (DCC), Ras-association domain family 1A (RASSF1A), O-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT), and secreted frizzled related protein 1 (SFRP1) were analyzed in the parental and high nitric oxide-adapted cell lines of breast cancer using Illumina MiSequencing.

Adolescents with unexplained chest pain reported depression and impaired emotional and social functioning.

Aim: Chest pain is common in adolescence, but there are no established criteria for managing this problem, which is rarely associated with cardiac disease. This study addressed the gaps in the literature by evaluating psychosocial factors that could be associated with medically unexplained chest pain.

Methods: We consecutively selected 100 patients (68% girls) aged 13-18 who were diagnosed with unexplained chest pain when they presented to the cardiology outpatient clinics of Tepecik Research Hospital, İzmir, Turkey, between 30 September 2015 and 30 June 2018.

Purpose: Technological development of optic coherence tomography has enabled a detailed assessment of the optic nerve and deeper structures and in vivo measurements. The aim of this study was to compare the lamina cribrosa morphology of the optic nerve in idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) and healthy individuals.

Methods: The lamina cribrosa morphology of optic nerve in 15 eyes with IIH and 17 eyes of healthy individuals were compared.

Background: Anti-angiogenic tyrosine kinase inhibitors, sunitinib and pazopanib, have proven efficacy in advanced renal cell carcinoma, with specific adverse events occurring during treatment process. Comorbidities can reflect functional status and have prognostic value in oncology patients. We aimed to assess the association of the Charlson Comorbidity Index with severe toxicities and mortality in renal cell carcinoma cases treated with front-line sunitinib or pazopanib.

Indeterminate cell histiocytosis in a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus and antiphospholipid antibody syndrome: an unusual association.

Indeterminate cell histiocytosis (ICH) is an extremely rare clonal proliferative disorder of dendritic cells which presents with skin lesions in the majority of cases. Although extra-cutaneous manifestations are very rare, ICH may involve the mucosa, cornea, and conjunctiva as well as the visceral organs. Since the clinical appearance of cutaneous lesions of ICH is not distinctive, it is diagnosed with histopathological and immunohistochemical findings after clinical suspicion.

Effects of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy on obstetric outcomes within 12 months after surgery.

Aim: To determine the obstetric and neonatal outcomes of pregnant patients having undergone laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) in the previous 12 months.

Methods: This retrospective and observational study included 144 pregnant women: 48 had pregnancies within 12 months after LSG (Group A), 42 became pregnant more than 1 year after surgery (Group B) and 54 obese pregnant women who had a body mass index (BMI) >30 kg/m , were categorized as the control group because they did not undergo surgery (Group C). The participants' early gestational BMI, predelivery BMI and gestational weight gain were determined and the obstetric and neonatal outcomes of the groups were compared.

The axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) salamander, a urodele amphibian, has an exceptional regenerative capacity to fully restore an amputated limb throughout the life-long lasting neoteny. By contrast, when axolotls are experimentally induced to metamorphosis, attenuation of the limb's regenerative competence is noticeable. Here, we sought to discern the proteomic profiles of the early stages of blastema formation of neotenic and metamorphic axolotls after limb amputation by employing LC-MS/MS technology.

Vegetal drinks as a substitute for milk consumption are raising striking interest in the food industry. Soy and rice drinks are the most successful milk substitutes but are low in protein and fiber contents, are rich in sugars, and their cultivation systems are unsustainable; thus, alternative vegetal sources to resolve these limits must be found. A winning candidate could be hemp seed, which is a powerhouse of nutrients, is sugarless, rich in fiber and proteins, and little land and nutrients demanding.
