Background: Acromegaly is a disease with high morbidity and mortality rates. The role of primary care physicians is very important in the early diagnosis of acromegaly. The present study aims to determine the knowledge and attitudes of primary care physicians about acromegaly in different countries worldwide.

This study aimed to evaluate the predictive power of this nomogram in the Turkish patient population.
Materials And Methods: Gastric cancer patients over 18 years of age who were admitted to our clinic between 2000 and 2019 and underwent primary curative surgery and R0 resection were included in the study.
Purpose: To evaluate the role of Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Haemophilus influenzae, Serratia marcescens, and Moraxella catarrhalis in the nasal and ocular surface flora, along with their metabolic activities in children with unilateral congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction (CNLDO).
Methods: Swabs were taken from the bilateral inferior meatus and ocular surface of 26 children with unilateral CNLDO before probing. Nasal and ocular surface swabs from non-operated eyes of children who underwent unilateral blepharoptosis or strabismus surgery formed the control group.
Objective: This research investigates the associations between Dry Eye Disease (DED), pain perception, and mental health, focusing on how neuropathic pain influences treatment efficacy and patients' quality of life.
Methods And Results: The study delves into the complexity of DED by assessing the correlation between ocular pain, depression, PTSD, and systemic pain conditions. It highlights the role of chronic neuropathic pain in DED and the nociceptive hypothesis, which suggests that psychological stress can exacerbate DED symptoms.
Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) utilize the metabolic activities of microorganisms, through which the chemical energy is directly converted into electrical energy. Bacteria produce electrons by means of oxidation of organic/inorganic substrates within the MFCs. Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) that are porous coordination polymers have gained much interest in the field of efficient catalysts due to their unique characteristics.

Selenium is an essential trace element supporting antioxidant and anti-inflammatory pathways, mediated by incorporation into selenoproteins. The selenium status may affect sepsis risk in burn injury.

This study aimed to elucidate the frequency, patterns, and mortality rates associated with rib fractures in multitrauma patients and to explore the association between rib fractures and other systemic injuries. Methods In a retrospective observational study at a tertiary care hospital, electronic medical records of multi-trauma patients over a four-year period were examined.

We aimed to investigate the effects of liraglutide on several biological processes, including inflammation, antioxidant defense mechanisms, mitochondrial dynamics, and function, as well as cognitive and behavioral changes in the TLE model. : Low-dose, repeated intraperitoneal injections of lithium chloride-pilocarpine hydrochloride were used to induce status epilepticus (SE) in order to develop TLE in rats.

Objective: The aim of this analysis was to explore the association between selenium status [serum selenium and selenoprotein P (SELENOP) concentrations and glutathione peroxidase 3 (GPx3) activity] and cognitive function in 85-y olds living in Northeast England at baseline and ≤5 y of follow-up.
Purpose: To evaluate the lamina cribrosa, retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL), and macula in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and pseudoexfoliation glaucoma (PEXG) and healthy individuals using enhanced depth imaging (EDI) of spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT).
Methods: A total of 158 eyes were included in the study, comprising 58 eyes of 29 patients with POAG, 50 eyes of 25 patients with PEXG, and 50 eyes of 25 healthy individuals. The lamina cribrosa thickness (LCT) (at three locations), lamina cribrosa depth (LCD), RNFL thickness, and the macular thickness were measured using the EDI mode of the SD-OCT.
Background: Lung cancer remains a serious medical problem. The trace element selenium seems to be a promising prognostic marker or therapeutic option for cancer patients.
Methods: We enrolled 99 patients with histologically confirmed NSCLC undergoing radiotherapy.
Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to synthesize the effects of randomized controlled trials using serious gaming in nursing education on knowledge, skills, and confidence.
Design: Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Data Sources: Randomized controlled trials published in English in PubMed, CINAHL, Web of Science, Scopus, Cochrane Library databases between 2000 and 2023.
Aim: This study aims to develop an experimental treatment model effective against oxidative stress in the acute period of severe burns and to analyze the mechanisms of healing large wound defects.
Methods: Five rats, including 2 females and 3 males, were used as donors to obtain adipose-derived stem cells (ADSC) from the inguinal fat pad. The stem cells were labeled with green fluorescent protein.
One of the biggest challenges for in vivo gene therapy are vectors mediating highly selective gene transfer into a defined population of therapy-relevant cells. Here we present DARPin-targeted AAVs (DART-AAVs) displaying DARPins specific for human and murine CD8. Insertion of DARPins into the GH2/GH3 loop of the capsid protein 1 (VP1) of AAV2 and AAV6 resulted in high selectivity for CD8-positive T cells with unimpaired gene delivery activity.

Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) is a critically endangered salamander species and a model organism for regenerative and developmental biology. Despite its significance, a noticeable gap exists in understanding the interplay between axolotl regeneration and its microbiome.

In this study, we explored these interactions using a delayed match-to-sample task, where participants (6 males, 16 females) encountered the same target object across six consecutive trials, facilitating the transition from WM to LTM. During half of these target repetitions, the background color changed.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) ranks among the prevalent neoplastic diseases globally, presenting challenges in therapeutic management. Traditional modalities have yielded suboptimal response rates due to its intrinsic pathological resistance. This underscores the imperative for identifying novel molecular targets to enhance therapeutic efficacy.
