Evaluation of a Risk Screening Tool for Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in a German Cohort.

Purpose: To assess the efficacy of the DIGIROP-Birth algorithm in identifying infants at risk for developing retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).

Methods: In a retrospective study, we included preterm infants over 11 years, 2010-2020, meeting the inclusion criteria for the DIGIROP-Birth calculator (24 + 0/7 to 30 + 6/7 weeks of gestational age). We assessed the validity of DIGIROP-Birth using receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curves and calculated area-under-curve (AUC), sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values.

Introduction: This study investigates the relationship between volume, structural characteristics and quality of outcome, specifically for infants at the border of viability.

Methods: Using administrative data of the largest provider of statutory healthcare insurance in Germany between 2010-2015, infants with an admission weight (AW) between 250-1249 g treated initially in perinatal centers were included. For infants at the border of viability (250-499 g AW), the endpoints mortality and mortality or morbidity were analyzed.

Impact of hemispherotomy on quality of life and burden of caregivers in children and adolescents: a retrospective observational study.

Purpose: To evaluate QOL and caregiver burden of children and teenagers submitted to hemispherotomy for pharmacoresistant epilepsy, by comparing pre and post-surgical intervention data.

Materials And Methods: Retrospective analysis of pediatric patients submitted to surgical hemispherotomy before intervention (preOP) and their follow-up at 6 months (6 M PO) and 2 years (2Y PO) after surgery. QOL was evaluated through the Quality of Life in Childhood Epilepsy (QVCE-50) questionnaire and caregiver burden, through the Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI) tool.
