The purpose of this clinical case is to underline the rarity of the case in question, in which the diagnosis of left Chilaiditis syndrome was made in a woman with bronchial asthma. The Caucasian woman in question is 79 years old and was seen in our clinic in January 2023 for episodes of recurrent dyspnea, chest heaviness, wheezing, belching, dysphagia and epigastric abdominal pain associated with recurrent episodes of bronchitis. We used simple spirometry, which revealed a picture of moderate mixed ventilatory deficit with a decrease in small airway volume, a reduction in peak expiratory flow, and a negative bronchoreversibility test.

Reflux asthma is an entity characterized by typical symptoms and, in some cases, is "silent"; it is more dangerous when associated with obesity and sleep apnea syndrome. Numerous studies demonstrate its high prevalence in the general population, particularly in the pediatric population, where, despite medical specialists' treatment, asthma symptoms remain poorly controlled with a high risk of acute exacerbations. This clinical study aims to show how the addition of a particular type of alginate (Deflux Plus sachets) containing hyaluronic acid and melatonin at low doses administered over a prolonged period of 6 months causes a reduction in vagal reflex stimulation of the esophagus and pulmonary microaspiration reflexes by regulating lower esophageal sphincter motility in asthmatic patients, improving the asthma control test (ATC) score.

Amiodarone-induced pulmonary toxicity (AIPT) is one of the most serious adverse effects of amiodarone and is one of the leading causes of death associated with its use. The onset of AIPT depends on dosage, patient's age, and pre-existing pulmonary pathologies; typically, the adverse effects stop progressing when a cumulative dose higher than 150 mg is reached. The risk of developing amiodarone-induced pulmonary fibrosis is directly related to the dosage and duration of administration.
