Background: To determine the effect of developmental care on neurodevelopmental outcome in formerly preterm infants at a corrected age of 2 years.

Methods: A prospective phase-lag study was performed at an Austrian neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). From January 2003 to December 2005 (study period of conventional care) and January 2007 to December 2009 (study period of developmental care), we enrolled all infants born in Tyrol at less than 32 weeks of gestation.

Aims: To investigate the epidemiology and risk factors of apparent life threatening events (ALTE).

Methods: A prospective study enrolled all live-born infants in the Tyrol (1993-2001). Information on pregnancy, sociodemographic characteristics, child care practices, and infant's behaviour in the first four to six weeks of life was collected with a standardised questionnaire, and was available for 44,184 infants.

Objective: We investigated the epidemiology of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) in the Tyrol before and after an intervention campaign.

Patients And Methods: Descriptive characteristics and risk factors of SIDS before the campaign were assessed in a retrospective case-control study (1984 to 1994). In April 1994 a country-wide information campaign on modifiable risk behaviours was initiated.
