Diffuse large-cell B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common lymphoid malignancy. About 30-40% of the patients will not be cured by standard Rituximab (R)-CHOP-like immune-chemotherapy, and many of them experience relapse and eventually succumb to their disease. Enhancing first-line efficacy in patients at higher risk, among them many elderly, is key to improve long-term outcomes.

The cooperative Lamb shift arises due to the exchange of virtual photons between identical atoms. The interference between the forward and backward propagating virtual fields is confirmed by the thickness dependence of the shift, which has a spatial frequency equal to twice that of the optical field.

Two Raman beams detuned in frequency by the ground-state hyperfine splitting in (87)Rb are produced using an electro-optic modulator and then separated using the Faraday effect in an isotopically pure (85)Rb thermal vapor. An experimental transmission spectra for the beam splitter is presented along with a theoretical calculation.

Given the high prevalence of depression in patients with Type 1 diabetes and the diabetes-related risk factors for atherosclerosis, we hypothesized that this relation might also be of special relevance in Type 1 diabetic patients.
Methods: Intima-media thickness (IMT) and the presence of plaques in the carotid arteries were quantitatively assessed by high-resolution ultrasound in 175 adults (89 men, 86 women) with an established diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes.

Background: Thyroid disorders such as goiter, nodules, autoimmune thyroid disease and thyroid dysfunction have rarely been investigated in adult type 1 diabetes mellitus. Our aim was to study the spectrum of thyroid disorders in adult type 1 diabetic subjects and compare them with results obtained from a sample of the general adult population.
Methods: The study population comprised 224 type 1 diabetic and 3481 non-diabetic subjects aged 20-69 years.
