Technologies for solar steam generation with high performance can help solving critical societal issues such as water desalination or sterilization, especially in developing countries. Very recently, we have witnessed a rapidly growing interest in the scientific community proposing sunlight absorbers for direct conversion of liquid water into steam. While those solutions can possibly be of interest from the perspective of the involved novel materials, in this study we intend to demonstrate that efficient steam generation by solar source is mainly due to a combination of efficient solar absorption, capillary water feeding and narrow gap evaporation process, which can also be achieved through common materials.

Relativistic kicked rotor.

Phys Rev E Stat Nonlin Soft Matter Phys

July 2005

Transport properties in the relativistic analog of the periodically kicked rotor are contrasted under classically and quantum mechanical dynamics. The quantum rotor is treated by solving the Dirac equation in the presence of the time-periodic delta-function potential resulting in a relativistic quantum mapping describing the evolution of the wave function. The transition from the quantum suppression behavior seen in the nonrelativistic limit to agreement between quantum and classical analyses in the relativistic regime is discussed.

The authors examined 156 babies on bottle feeding or breast and bottle feeding against control group of 60 babies whose diets were identical with the study group except additional intake of cotton-boll pectin. The latter was used for the first time as a biologically active ingredient of infant food (1 g per 100 ml of infant milk or food 3 times a day for 45-60 days). As a result of the pectin addition the infants of the study group had better nutritional status and physical development, their erythrocytic system was superior to that of the controls.
