Background: Recurrent non-stenotic cholangitis (NSC) is a challenging and poorly understood complication of a surgical hepaticojejunostomy (HJ). Optimal treatment remains unclear.

Methods: A retrospective single center series including patients with recurrent cholangitis with a non-stenotic HJ after hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery was conducted (2015-2022).

Pharmacokinetics of ceftriaxone, gentamicin, meropenem and vancomycin in liver cirrhosis: a systematic review.

Objectives: Patients with liver cirrhosis are prone to develop severe bacterial infections. Pharmacokinetics (PK) of antibiotics in cirrhosis are potentially affected by impaired biotransformation phases 0-3 and consequences of portal hypertension such as portovenous shunting, ascites formation and/or acute kidney injury (AKI). We aimed to elucidate to what extent PK of selected antibiotics and, therefore, dosage recommendations are affected in adults with cirrhosis.

Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy: Introduction and overview 2024.

Considerable progress has been made to explain the aetiology of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) and of the adverse pregnancy outcomes associated with high maternal total serum bile acids (TSBAs). The reported thresholds for non-fasting TSBA associated with the risk of stillbirth and spontaneous preterm birth can be used to identify pregnancies at risk of these adverse outcomes to decide on appropriate interventions and to give reassurance to women with lower concentrations of TSBA. Data also support the use of ursodeoxycholic acid to protect against the risk of spontaneous preterm birth.

Incidence and prevalence of primary biliary cholangitis in the Netherlands - A nationwide cohort study.

Background & Aims: Although primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is considered a rare disorder, accurate determination of its incidence and prevalence remains challenging due to limited comprehensive population-based registries. We aimed to assess the incidence and prevalence of PBC in the Netherlands over time through the nationwide Dutch PBC Cohort Study (DPCS).

Methods: DPCS retrospectively included every identifiable patient with PBC in the Netherlands from 1990 onwards in all 71 Dutch hospitals.
