We report a rare case of a hepatic carcinosarcoma with rabdomyosarcomatous differentiation in its sarcomatous component. A 71-year old Caucasian female patient underwent a liver resection for a 4-cm lesion developed on an underlying HCV-related cirrhosis. Post-operative course was uneventful and the patient was discharged 5 days after surgery.

Methods: The clinical charts of 41 consecutive Italian patients with AOSD referred to our rheumatological department over the last 10 years were retrospectively examined. Data regarding clinical manifestations, laboratory features and complications were collected and compared with those reported in literature.
Unlabelled: Human beta-defensin-3 (HBD-3) is an antimicrobial peptide with bactericidal effects on many gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and some yeast species and, if radiolabeled, might be used to distinguish bacterial infection from sterile inflammation. The goals of the present study were to develop methods for radiolabeling HBD-3 with (99m)Tc and to perform preliminary investigations on (99m)Tc-labeled HBD-3 as a means to evaluate induced infection in an animal model. To this purpose, Staphylococcus aureus-induced infection was used to evaluate the capability of (99m)Tc-HBD-3 to distinguish infection from aseptic inflammation in rats.

Patients And Methods: Thirty pancreatic adenocarcinoma patients were followed-up for an average period of 5 years. FAS, bcl-2, p53 and Ki-67 expression were detected immunohistochemically to determine their prognostic value.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is considered an optimal indication for liver transplantation (LT) because it may eliminate both the tumor and the underlying liver disease. The present study sought to compare cumulative survival, rate of HCC recurrence, and causes of death among patients with cirrhosis and HCC before and after the adoption of more restrictive criteria (Milan selection criteria) at the time of patient listing. Among 226 adult patients who received an elective liver transplantation between 1999 and 2005, 58 (27%) had a diagnosis of HCC at the time.
