Traditional risk factors for Helicobacter pylori infection not found among patients undergoing diagnostic upper endoscopy-Republic of Georgia, 2007-2008.

Objectives: Helicobacter pylori causes gastritis, duodenal ulcers, and gastric cancer. Although household crowding, low socioeconomic status (SES), and poor sanitation are associated with infection elsewhere, risk factors of infection in the Republic of Georgia (ROG), a country with a high prevalence rate (>70%), remain unknown. In this study we explored potential risk factors of infection among symptomatic patients in ROG.

[Interrelation of lipid status with staging of breast cancer].

The lipid status of 30 women (38-64 years) with breast cancer (stages I-II A, B) was investigated. Selection and distribution of patients in groups occurred on the basis of the accepted classification by the size, invasivity and presence of metastases. The main changes in the lipid formula of blood included increased level of total cholesterol and low density lipoproteins cholesterol.

[Diagnostic and prognostic value of the oncoprotein her-2/neu in the breast cancer tissue].

49 breast cancer tissues were investigated by imunnohistochemical method, to reveal the expression and distribution of the oncoprotein HER-2/neu. It was found, that expression of the oncoprotein HER-2/neu in the tumor tissues is very variable, which depends on the cancer histogenesis, histological form, differentiation and stage of tumor development. Intensity of expression of the oncoprotein HER-2/neu is higher in the ductal forms of the cancer, there is reciprocal relationship between the intensity of the expression of the oncoprotein HER-2/neu and steroid hormones.

Histological and histochemical investigations of nasal septum cartilage in nasal deformations.

Unlabelled: AIM of the study is to identify histological and histochemical peculiarities of nasal septum cartilage reconstruction in patient with different remoteness of trauma.

Materials And Methods: Patients of both sexes at the age of 16-39 years have been operated on. Depending on remoteness of the period from the trauma, witch caused the deformation, till the surgery, the materials was divided into 2 group: I group (36 patients) 1-5 years from the trauma to the surgery, II group (23 patient) 10-20 years from the trauma to the surgery.
