Repeatability of Corneal Hysteresis Measurements in Glaucoma Patients During Routine Follow Up and After Cataract Surgery.

Prcis: Corneal hysteresis (CH) measurements are relatively stable during routine follow up of glaucoma patients over an intermediate time frame. Cataract surgery does not change the CH significantly after an average follow up of 6 months.

Purpose: The aim was to assess the repeatability of CH measurements in glaucoma patients over time, during routine follow up and after cataract surgery.

Exfoliation syndrome: association with systemic diseases-the Maccabi glaucoma study.

Purpose: To investigate the relationship between exfoliation syndrome (XFS) and systemic diseases.

Methods: A population-based, retrospective study with control group was conducted using the electronic medical database of Maccabi Health Services, the second largest Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) in Israel. Study population included Maccabi members from January 2003 to April 2016.

Safety of cataract surgery in patients treated with the new oral anticoagulants (NOACs).

Purpose: To evaluate the safety of phacoemulsification of cataract in patients taking new oral anticoagulants (NOACs).

Methods: In a prospective case series, consecutive patients on NOACs (dabigatran, rivaroxaban, or apixaban) who were referred for uncomplicated cataract surgery to the eye institute underwent a thorough ophthalmological and hematological evaluation. Rivaroxaban and apixaban anti-factor Xa tests, and diluted thrombin time for dabigatran, were used for monitoring anticoagulation levels in blood.

Bilateral consecutive Xen gel stent surgery during pregnancy for uncontrolled early-onset primary open angle glaucoma.

Purpose: To report here a case of uncontrolled glaucoma during third-trimester of pregnancy that was treated successfully with bilateral Xen gel stent insertion.

Observations: A 35-year-old woman presented during the third trimester of pregnancy with bilateral uncontrolled primary open angle glaucoma. Her disc examination and visual fields were consistent with advanced glaucoma.

Overuse and Underuse of Visual Field Testing Over 15 Years.

Unlabelled: PRéCIS:: A 15-year analysis of 198,843 visual field (VF) tests revealed a growing trend for their performance for nonglaucoma indications. Adherence to glaucoma management guidelines was suboptimal. Guidelines for referral to VF assessments should be established.

Long-Term Results of Bilateral Medial Rectus Muscle Recession in Children with Developmental Delay.

Purpose: To assess the long-term results of a reduced amount of medial rectus recession in children with esotropia and developmental delay.

Methods: A retrospective chart analysis of 42 children with developmental delay who had undergone surgery for esotropia during a 20-year period in a large referral center was performed. The pre- and postoperative angle of deviation was calculated for each subject as the mean of distant and near angles measured by a cover test or the Krimsky measurement.

Ptosis Shmosis.

A 10-year-old girl presented with painless unilateral left upper lid ptosis. A nontender hard mass was palpated in the left upper lid. Blood smear was compatible with the diagnosis of leukemia.
