Attitudes of Health and Mental Health Professionals, and Police Staff towards Mentally Ill Offenders in Greece.

Mentally ill offenders face stigma, being perceived as both dangerous and unpredictable. This leads to social discrimination, which causes devaluation, distancing, and unequal treatment towards them. Critical and dismissive attitudes of healthcare professionals and police toward these patients undermine their care, treatment, and prospects for rehabilitation.

Death anxiety, life's meaninglessness, and mental resilience among women with symptoms of behavioral addictions and alcohol use disorder: Using the existential approach.

In recent decades, a growing body of research has emphasized the unique nature of substance abuse among women, necessitating a gender-specific approach and thus individualized therapeutic interventions.The purpose of this study, based on the existential approach, was to examine whether symptoms of several behavioral addictions (shopping, sex, gambling and betting, eating) and alcohol use disorder correlate with death anxiety, lack of meaning in life, and levels of mental resilience in a convenience sample of women. A total of 3,176 women participated in this online study and completed a demographic characteristics questionnaire, the Shorter PROMIS Questionnaire (SPQ), the Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ), the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), and the Death Anxiety Scale (DAS).

Online dialectical behavior therapy for binge eating disorder: an open trial.

The purpose of the present study was to examine the efficacy of online Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Binge Eating Disorder (DBT-BED) in reducing eating psychopathology and investigate the factors that influence the severity and frequency of binge eating. Seventy-three individuals seeking treatment for BED participated in 20 two-hour group sessions. Participants completed the Emotional Eating Scale (EES), Binge Eating Scale (BES), and Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire (EDE-Q) before and after the treatment and at three- and six-month follow-ups.

Screening and early detection of communicable diseases on board cruise ships: An assessment of passengers' preferences on technical solutions.

Background: Implementing technological solutions to screen for and detect early the most prevalent communicable diseases on cruise ships is contingent on, among others, willingness of passengers to accept use of such solutions.

Method: We surveyed passenger preferences to record their willingness to accept technological solutions for screening and early detection of communicable diseases on cruise ships. Self-reported sociodemographic characteristics, use of technology and acceptance of solutions were recorded anonymously in paper format.

MRI Assessed Placental Location as a Diagnostic Tool of Placental Invasiveness and Maternal Peripartum Morbidity.

Placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) disorder is one of the leading causes of peripartum maternal morbidity and mortality; its early identification during pregnancy is of utmost importance to ensure the optimal clinical outcome. The aim of the present study is to investigate the possible association of the presence and type/location of placenta previa on MRI with PAS and maternal peripartum outcome. One hundred eighty-nine pregnant women (mean age: 35 years; mean gestational age: 32 weeks) at high risk for PAS underwent a dedicated placental MRI.

Health Literacy, Self-Efficacy and Glycemic Control in Patients With Diabetes Type 2 in a Greek Population.

Aim  To investigate the relationship between health literacy (HL), self-efficacy (SE), and achievement of treatment goals in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Method The cross-sectional study was conducted with a random sample of patients with T2DM attending the diabetology clinic and the Home Care department of the General Hospital of Drama, Greece. They completed two questionnaires: the short form of the European Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire (HLS-EU-Q16) to measure HL and the Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale (DMSES) for people with T2DM to measure SE.

Introduction: Primary care providers' (PCPs) compliance to self-immunization is important for their protection and the protection of their colleagues and patients and has been associated with the coverage of the general public. In this study, we aim to investigate the vaccination coverage of PCPs.

Factor structure and reliability of the Greek version of Attitudes Towards Mentally Ill Offenders (ΑΤΜΙΟ) Scale in a general population sample.

Mentally ill offenders constitute a group with a unique set of characteristics since they are doubly stigmatized by both their mental illness and the offence they have committed. The coexistence of these two circumstances significantly heightens negative public attitudes towards these people. The group of mentally ill offenders has been shown to elicit more stigmatic attitudes than offenders without a mental health condition.

Purpose: Individuals with eating disorders (ED) and comorbid borderline personality disorder (BPD) may benefit from therapies focusing on emotion regulation, such as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Perceptions and attitudes of people with severe mental disorders towards smoking in Greece.

Despite its significant decline in the general population, smoking remains endemic and highly prevalent among people with mental disorders. The impact of smoking-attributable morbidity on life expectancy is significant since, in comparison to the general population, people with severe mental disorders have a 15-20-year reduction in life expectancy. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 1015 people with mental disorders through personal interviews.

The purple line and its association with cervical dilatation in labour: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: There is a growing body of evidence that the presence and length of the purple line could represent a non-invasive method of estimating and determining labour progress.

Objectives: The primary outcome was to provide a systematic review and meta-analysis on the association between the purple line length and cervical dilatation in active labour. The secondary outcome was to determine the association between the purple line length and the fetal head descent, and to calculate the pooled mean length of the purple line at a cervical dilatation of 3-4 cm and at a cervical dilatation of 9-10 cm.
