Oceanic tidal constituents and depth-integrated electrical conductivity (ocean conductivity content, or OCC) extracted from electromagnetic (EM) field data are known to have a strong potential for monitoring ocean heat content, which reflects the Earth's energy imbalance. In comparison to ocean tide models, realistic ocean general circulation models have a greater need to be baroclinic; therefore, both OCC and depth-integrated conductivity-weighted velocity ([Formula: see text]) data are required to calculate the ocean circulation-induced magnetic field (OCIMF). Owing to a lack of [Formula: see text] observations, we calculate the OCIMF using an ocean state estimate.

Ocean tide generated magnetic fields contain information about changes in ocean heat content and transport that can potentially be retrieved from remotely sensed magnetic data. To provide an important baseline towards developing this potential, tidal signals are extracted from 288 land geomagnetic observatory records having observations within the 50-year time span 1965-2015. The extraction method uses robust iteratively reweighted least squares for a range of models using different predictant and predictor assumptions.

Pathogenic variants in KIF11 are linked to microcephaly with or without chorioretinopathy, lymphedema, or impaired intellectual development (MCLMR). To our knowledge, renal phenotypes have not been described in the literature in association with KIF11-related disorders. This study is a case report of two probands with heterozygous pathogenic variants in KIF11 who presented with the common clinical features of MCLMR but also had additional renal involvement not previously reported as associated phenotypes of MCLMR, elucidating phenotypic expansion of this syndrome.

Existing literature indicates that communication between the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system is disrupted by substance use disorders (SUDs), including alcohol use disorder (AUD). Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21), a liver-brain axis hormone governing energy homeostasis, has been shown to modulate alcohol intake/preference and other substances. Donor-derived infections in solid organ transplantation can be prevented by risk stratification of donors based on available information, and inquiries surrounding possible or diagnosed infection are common questions posed to transplant infectious disease subspecialists. This article outlines the five key steps in addressing a donor call from a transplant team in a systematic approach, focusing on donor and recipient-specific factors, transmissibility and treatment of possible infections, and the likelihood of a patient's future organ offers and mortality remaining on the waitlist. These principles are then applied to five donor call cases, in which we review the key takeaway points and supporting literature.

The neurosteroid 3α,5α-THP is a potent GABA receptor-positive modulator and its regulatory action on the HPA axis stress response has been reported in numerous preclinical and clinical studies. We previously demonstrated that 3α,5α-THP down-regulation of HPA axis activity during stress is sex-, brain region- and stressor-dependent. In this study, we observed a deleterious submersion behavior in response to 3α,5α-THP (15 mg/kg) during forced swim stress (FSS) that led us to investigate how 3α,5α-THP might affect behavioral coping strategies engaged in by the animal.

Distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAEs) and hearing thresholds (HTs) are widely used to evaluate auditory physiology.
