We present a laser wavelength meter based on a commercial color sensor chip. The chip consists of an array of photodiodes with different absorptive color filters. By comparing the relative amplitudes of light on the photodiodes, the wavelength of light can be determined.

In studies of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), decreases in this measure of connectivity have been found by focusing on the response to task modulation, by using only the rest periods, or by analyzing purely resting-state data. This difference in connectivity, however, could result from a number of different mechanisms--differences in noise, task-related fluctuations, task performance, or spontaneous neuronal activity.

Using the posterior cingulate cortex as a seed region, functional connectivity analyses have found not only positive correlations in the default mode network but negative correlations in another resting state network related to attentional processes. The interpretation is that the human brain is intrinsically organized into dynamic, anti-correlated functional networks.

Commonly used physiological noise correction techniques, such as RETROspective Image CORrection (RETROICOR), rely critically on the timing of the image acquisition relative to the heart beat, but do not account for the effects of subject motion. Such motion affects the fluctuation amplitude, yet volume registration can distort the timing information.

However, the response function that best models breath-holding-induced signal changes, as well as those resulting from a wider range of breathing variations including those occurring during rest, has not yet been determined. Respiration related signal changes appear to be slower than neuronally induced BOLD signal changes and are not modeled accurately using the typical hemodynamic response functions used in fMRI.
