Article Synopsis
  • * A study evaluated 138 children treated between 2015 and 2020, with 60.5% undergoing balloon angioplasty and 35.5% surgery, achieving early success rates of 72.5% and 79.5%, respectively.

This study investigates the manufacturing, testing, and analysis of ultra-thick laminated polymer matrix composite (PMC) beams with the aim of developing high-performance PMC leaf springs for automotive applications. An innovative aspect of this study is the integration of Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors and thermocouples (TCs) to monitor residual strain and exothermic reactions in composite structures during curing and post-curing manufacturing cycles. Additionally, the Calibration Coefficients (CCs) are calculated using Strain Gauge measurement results under static three-point bending tests.

This study reports a new series of 1,10-phenanthroline-substituted imidazolium salts (1a-f), examining their design, synthesis, structure and anticancer activities. The structures of these salts (1a-f) were characterized using H, C NMR, elemental analysis, mass spectrometry and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopies. The salts' cytotoxic activities were tested against cancer cell lines, specifically MCF-7, MDA-MB-231 and non-tumorigenic MCF-10A mammary cells.

Introduction: In Turkey and other collectivist cultures, child-rearing is a communal effort provided by multiple family members, especially female relatives such as mothers-in-law, aunts, and sisters. Environments with excessively controlling social factors can adversely affect their maternal roles. This study was conducted to develop a measurement tool for determining postpartum excessive social support.

Magnesium (Mg) is a crucial element for cardiovascular system and its deficiency results in a variety of cardiac arrhythmias. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of oral Mg supplementation on the frequency of ventricular extrasystoles (VES) in children. Magnesium supplementation was given to 42 children who had VES without structural heart disease.

Introduction: Acupressure and cold application are nonpharmacologic methods that midwives can use for labor pain. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of ice massage applied to the SP6 acupressure point during labor on labor pain, labor comfort, labor duration, and anxiety.

Methods: A single-masked, randomized controlled trial was conducted with 100 nulliparous women, including 50 in the intervention group and 50 in the control group.

Pretrained language models augmented with in-domain corpora show impressive results in biomedicine and clinical Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks in English. However, there has been minimal work in low-resource languages. Although some pioneering works have shown promising results, many scenarios still need to be explored to engineer effective pretrained language models in biomedicine for low-resource settings.

Due to side effects and toxicity associated with platinum-derived metal-based drugs, extensive research has been conducted on ruthenium (Ru) complexes. We aim to synthesize a highly oil soluble Ru(II)--cymene complex () with an aliphatic chain group, a bimetallic Ru(II)--cymene complex () with N,S,S triple-coordination and a bimetallic Ir(III)-pentamethylcyclopentadienyl complex () with S,S double-coordination. Subsequently, we investigate the effects of these complexes on Vero and HepG2 cell lines, focusing on cell death mechanisms.

Hemoglobin (Hb) Hammersmith, formed by serine substitution for phenylalanine at residue 42 in the beta-globin chain, is a very rare variant of unstable hemoglobin with low oxygen affinity. For patients with hemoglobinopathies, it is well-established that hematopoietic stem cell transplantation provides a complete cure, but the literature on its role for those with Hb Hammersmith is limited. A seven-month-old girl who was examined for anemia and splenomegaly was followed up for congenital hemolytic anemia.

Introduction: Individuals who believe that experiencing positive emotions such as happiness could lead to negative results can suppress their authentic positive feelings to prevent undesired consequences. The aim of this study was to determine the levels of fear of happiness as a cultural phenomenon among puerperal women and the effects of fear of happiness on anxiety and self-efficacy in these women.

Method: This cross-sectional study was conducted in the puerperal service of a hospital in Turkey between September 2021 and June 2022 ( = 287).

Objective: Ventricular extrasystole is one of the most common rhythm disorders in children, and almost all of them are characterized by normal cardiac functions without structural cardiac abnormalities. The aim of this study was to assess the clinical course of ventricular extrasystole in children who did not have cardiac structural abnormalities.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 24-hour rhythm Holter recordings performed in our clinic in children.

Objective: To compare patient satisfaction, histopathologic results, and short-term morbidity in patients undergoing loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) under local anesthesia (LA) versus general anesthesia (GA).

Methods: Participants who met the inclusion criteria were randomly allocated in a 1:1 ratio to the LA group or GA group. Pain was determined by both objective (faces pain scale-revised) and subjective (visual analog scale score) methods.

A series of nitrile-modified -heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes of Ir(III) (-) and Ru(II) (-) have been prepared by transmetallation of [IrCp*Cl] and [RuCl(-cymene)] forming an NHC-Ag complex. The structures of all complexes were characterized by H NMR, C NMR, and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopies. And the structures were clearly elucidated by performing X-ray diffraction studies on , , and single crystals.

Danon disease is a rare and fatal disease caused by a mutation in the lysosome-associated membrane protein 2 gene. Impaired intracellular autophagy causes lysosomal vacuoles to accumulate mainly in myocardial and skeletal muscle cells, leading to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, skeletal myopathy, and varying degrees of intellectual disability. Two distinct childhood presentations of Danon disease are described in this report.

Application of N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) palladium complexes has been successful for the modulation of C-C coupling reactions. For this purpose, a series of azolium salts (1a-f) including benzothiazolium, benzimidazolium, and imidazolium, bearing a CN-substituted benzyl moiety, and their (NHC)PdBr (2a-c) and PEPPSI-type palladium (3b-f) complexes have been systematically prepared to catalyse acylative Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction of acyl chlorides with arylboronic acids to form benzophenone derivatives in the presence of potassium carbonate as a base and to catalyse the traditional Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction of bromobenzene with arylboronic acids to form biaryls. All the synthesized compounds were fully characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), and H and C NMR spectroscopies.

In this study, the cyclic compression and crush behavior of chiral auxetic lattice structures produced from titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V) metallic powder using electron beam melting (EBM) additive manufacturing technology is investigated numerically and experimentally. For material characterization and understanding the material behavior of EBM printed parts, tensile and three-point flexural tests were conducted. Log signals produced during the EBM process were investigated to confirm the stability of process and the health of the produced parts.

It is possible to reveal the potential of water-insoluble drugs by increasing their solubility in water with some nanotechnology techniques. Nanosuspension technology can solve this problem by increasing the water solubility and as well as bioavailability of these drugs. The present work is pointed at the evaluation of nanosuspension of curcumin, a poorly water-soluble drug.
