Purpose: To investigate the relationship between type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1-DM) and apical periodontitis (AP). The periapical and endodontic conditions of T1-DM individuals were compared with healthy people.

Methods: T1-DM subjects aged 18-45 with good glycemic control (HbA1c < 7) were included in this research.

Background: The aim of the authors was to evaluate the periapical and endodontic conditions of patients with osteoporosis and compare them with those of age- and sex-matched controls. The association between bisphosphonate (BiP) use and periapical and endodontic status in patients with osteoporosis was also investigated.

Methods: Panoramic radiographs of 711 patients with osteoporosis and 711 age- and sex-matched healthy patients were examined.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of various disinfection protocols on the cutting efficiency and chemical composition of ProTaper, Twisted File, Twisted File Adaptive, and Hedström files. Four experimental groups (n = 10) were presoaked in either enzymatic solution or 1% sodium hypochlorite for 30 min, followed by either 5 or 15 min of ultrasonic cleaning and then autoclaved. Resin-simulated canals with a single curvature of 38-40° were prepared by each instrument system.

This study aimed to assess the apical extrusion of sodium hypochlorite in immature teeth caused by needle irrigation, ultrasonic irrigation, EDDY, Er:YAG, and diode lasers. Seventy-five human maxillary anterior teeth were selected. After the apical 3 mm of the roots was resected, the canal lumen was enlarged with #2 to #5 Gates-Glidden burs.

Background: The purpose of this study was to compare the microhardness values of ProRoot mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), Biodentine, and total fill root repair material (TF-RRM) Putty at varying pH and times.

Materials And Methods: In this laboratory experiment, materials were mixed and placed in cylinder blocks with internal dimensions of 6 mm × 4 mm. Ten samples of each material were soaked in buffered solutions of butyric acid with 4.

Irreversible pulpitis is an acute, brief, and painful condition. Oxytocin, cortisol, and secretory immunoglobulin A (sIgA) are released by the body in response to pain and emotional stress. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of salivary cortisol, sIgA, and oxytocin among patients with irreversible pulpitis.

Aims: To evaluate the effect of multiple-use and sterilization on cyclic fatigue and shaping ability of heat-treated nickel-titanium (NiTi) rotary instruments.

Methods: A total of 120 acrylic blocks with S-shaped canals were photographed and prepared by HyFlex CM, ProTaper Next, and Twisted File. Ten new sets of each rotary instruments were used for four times.

Aims: We evaluated and compared EndoActivator, CanalBrush, and passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI) in the removal of calcium hydroxide and calcium hydroxide with iodoform and p-chlorophenol paste (Calcipast Forte) from artificial standardized grooves in the apical third of root canals.

Materials And Methods: A total of 34 mandibular premolars were prepared and then split longitudinally. A standardized groove was prepared in the apical part of both segments.

Aims: The aim of this study was to compare the influence of operators on the microhardness and compressive strength of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA).

Materials And Methods: Forty dental specialists were asked to prepare a series of MTA samples. The tested material was ProRoot MTA (DentsplyMaillefer, Switzerland).

Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of the XP-Endo Finisher (FKG Dentaire, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland) with passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI) and needle irrigation in the removal of triple antibiotic paste (TAP) from the straight immature root canals of extracted teeth.

Methods: Thirty-four freshly extracted single-rooted teeth were used. All canals were prepared up to the ProTaper F5 file (Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland).

Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate observer variations and observer reproducibility in the interpretation of periapical health using the Strindberg system, the periapical index (PAI), and the probability index for radiologic assessment of periapical health.

Methods: Four observers read digital periapical images to evaluate the periapical health of 200 root-filled teeth. Each observer evaluated a tooth twice by using the Strindberg system, twice by using the PAI, and twice by using the probability index.

Aim: The aim was to examine the technical quality of root fillings and periapical status of root-filled and nonroot-filled teeth restored with crowns and bridge retainers through a retrospective analysis of orthopantomographs (OPTGs) in an adult Turkish subpopulation.

Materials And Methods: In this study, the digital OPTGs of adult patients between the ages of 20 and 70 who appealed to the Endodontics Endodontics Department of the Dentistry Faculty at Marmara University (Istanbul, Turkey) for the first time to have their endodontic treatment needs met were used. The periapical health of all teeth restored with crowns and bridge retainers, and the technical quality of the root fillings on abutment teeth were evaluated by radiographic criteria.

Introduction: We compared the apical extrusion of sodium hypochlorite delivered with a 27-G needle, self-adjusting file (SAF), passive ultrasonic irrigation, or the EndoVac system (SybronEndo, Orange, CA) during the instrumentation and final irrigation of root canals.

Methods: Matched paired single-canal teeth were divided into 8 groups. The experimental groups were needle irrigation size #30 (NI30) and #50 (NI50), SAF size #30 (SAF30) and #50 (SAF50), passive ultrasonic irrigation size #30 (PUI30) and #50 (PUI50), and EndoVac size #30 (EV30) and #50 (EV50).
