First step toward a better trauma management: Initial results of the Northern Izmir Trauma Registry System for children.

Background: Trauma is an important health problem in children, and improvement in national trauma care is only possible through the knowledge gathered from trauma registry systems. This information is not available in our country, because there is no current trauma registry system at the hospitals. Our aim is to explain the trauma registry system we have developed and present the first year's data.

An analysis of Emergency Medical Services demand: Time of day, day of the week, and location in the city.

Objective: Effective planning of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), which is highly dependent on the analysis of past data trends, is important in reducing response time. Thus, we aimed to analyze demand for these services based on time and location trends to inform planning for an effective EMS.

Materials And Methods: Data for this retrospective study were obtained from the Izmir EMS 112 system.

[A motivating experience for emergency medical services: the first Turkish Ambulance Rally].

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the first "Turkish Ambulance Rally", which provides training and motivation for the rally teams and introduces the prehospital emergency medical services of Turkey via international participation.

Methods: Data in this descriptive study were collected using quantitative and qualitative research methods. Quantitative data were summarized in distribution and averages, whereas qualitative data were summarized in shared views and comments.

Older people's use of pre-hospital emergency medical services in Izmir, Turkey.

The aim of this study is to determine the use of pre-hospital emergency medical services (EMS) in elderly people aged 65 years and over in Izmir, Turkey. In this descriptive study, older patients admitted to pre-hospital EMS of Izmir Province Health Directorate between 2004 and 2005 years was evaluated through the review of Emergency Call Registry Forms. The study data included socioeconomic characteristics, reasons of calling, distribution of calling times in the day, distribution of ambulance callers and preclinical diagnosis.
