Characterization of fully-evaporated perovskite solar cells and photodetectors under high-intensity pulsed proton irradiation.

This study investigates the impact of proton irradiation on perovskite devices fabricated fully through vacuum deposition. Exposure to irradiation induces changes in both electrical and optical properties. The analysis reveals that the main factors influencing the observed performance changes in solar cells are a significant reduction in shunt resistance and a minor increase in series resistance, with minimal alterations in recombination dynamics.

Lung injury patterns in newborns, infants and young children - morphological and immunohistochemical approaches.

Lower respiratory infections are an important cause of morbidity and mortality in children, especially in newborns, infants and young children. We conducted a retrospective study and we analyzed the causes of death in newborns, infants and young children, in the necropsy protocols from two Departments of Pathology (Mureş County Hospital and Emergency County Hospital of Târgu Mureş, Romania), between 2016-2018. We performed descriptive statistics: number of necropsies per year, distribution by gender (male∕female), by place of origin (rural∕urban), by age and leading causes of death in our study.

To present the morphological changes of classic primary versus rapidly progressive and secondary hip osteoarthritis (HO) and to examine the expression of two pluripotent mesenchymal stem cell-like markers in the synovial membrane. A prospective observational study was conducted in 57 consecutive cases of radiologically confirmed HO in which total hip arthroplasty was performed. Based on the radiological and clinicopathological features, the cases were divided into three categories: classic primary HO (group A; n=16), rapidly destructive HO (group B; n=24), and HO secondary to avascular osteonecrosis of the femoral head (group C; n=17).

High-risk follicular dendritic cell sarcoma of the tonsil mimicking nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Follicular dendritic cell sarcoma (FDCS) is often misdiagnosed as a carcinoma or malignant lymphoma due to morphological variability. In FDCS application of routine antibody panels without CD21 and CD23 increases the misdiagnosis rate, because the tumor cells often show focal positivity for usual immunohistochemical markers. Our new case showed a distinct picture due to the uncommon tumor architecture, with extensive areas of necrosis and hemorrhage, the presence of nuclear atypia, and an increased mitotic count and Ki-67 index.

Atypical Hepatocellular Neoplasm With Peliosis in Cirrhotic Liver Versus Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Diagnostic Trap.

Atypical hepatocellular neoplasm (AHN) is an adenoma-like hepatic tumor that even occurs in noncirrhotic liver of males (any age) or females ≥ 50 years old, or associates focal atypical features. In this article, 2 unusual cases diagnosed in elderly cirrhotic patients, unrelated to steroids, are presented. The first case was incidentally diagnosed in an 83-year-old female.

Pagetoid reticulosis Woringer-Kolopp type, a particular variant of mycosis fungoides: a case report.

According to the definition of WHO, pagetoid reticulosis (PR) is characterized by the presence of unique skin lesion in the shape of patches or plaques caused by the proliferation of atypical T-cells in epidermis. We report the case of a 50-year-old female, presenting a 50×65 mm erythematous scaly patch, well-defined, slightly infiltrated, discrete polycyclic, on the right buttock, which appeared and developed in about 6-8 months. The clinical and dermatoscopic aspects suggested a Bowen's disease.

Histopathological, immunophenotypic and clinical particularities and evolution of a case of hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma in transformation to leukemia.

We present the possibilities of diagnosis correlating the pathological, immunophenotyping and clinical aspects of a rare case of T-cell lymphoma in a 23-year-old patient with leukemic transformation. In our consideration, it is very important to describe this case because in the literature there are very few cases presented and the treatment of this type of lymphoma does not present optimal results, the evolution of the patients being from three months to two years. The treatment modality that gives the possibility to prolong survival and cure is hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

Non-Epstein-Barr virus associated lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma of the esophagogastric junction with microsatellite instability, K-ras wild type.

A 60-year-old male was admitted to our hospital for gastric cancer. Considering his general condition, total gastrectomy and dissection of regional lymph nodes were performed. Macroscopically, a 45 mm × 20 mm × 10 mm-sized, ulcero-infiltrative tumor located in the esophagogastric junction was described.

Current data in clinicopathological characteristics of primary hepatic tumors.

Aim: The present study aimed to investigate the status of primary liver tumors diagnosed in the Emergency Hospital of Mures County, Romania.

Materials And Methods: We performed a retrospective study based on data collected from histopathological bulletins stored in the archives of the Pathology Laboratories of Mures County. We selected those patients' data that were diagnosed with liver tumors during January 2004-August 2011.

Microvascular density in non-Hodgkin B-cell lymphomas measured using digital morphometry.

Introduction: The growth of solid tumors requires the development of microvessels, therefore tumor expansion depends on angiogenesis. Microvessels provide nutrients and oxygen and remove catabolytic substances, while endothelial cells produce growth factors for tumor cells in a paracrine fashion. The microvascular component of a tumor also plays a role in the metastatic capacity of the tumor, enabling the tumor cells to spread to distant locations by providing a large endothelial surface.

Patients And Methods: In this paper, we present a series of seven cases with chronic post-transplant cardiac rejection in the light of our experience related to histopathological aspects, difficulties in diagnosing and survival time.

Results: Our study comprises patients whose ages ranked at the time of transplant between 33 and 58 years, with a mean age of 47.

Practical value of the complex analysis of sentinel lymph nodes in colorectal carcinomas.

Background: Despite modern factors, which seem to predict outcome, lymph node (LN) status remain the main prognostic factor, which also shows the need for complex oncotherapy in colorectal carcinomas (CRC). Sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs) mapping is a very controversial method, which can increase the number of identified LN.

Materials And Methods: In 28 patients who underwent surgical intervention between December 2009 and December 2010, we performed in vivo SLNs mapping followed by ex vivo examination at 1, 10, and 48 hours.

The aim of this study is to present the diagnostic and differential diagnostic criteria of the bone marrow specimen involved by lymphomas based on the histomorphological immunophenotype features and clonality of the tumor cells, patterns of lymphoproliferation and diagnostic pitfalls. [Cervical anastomotic fistula in surgery of the esophagus].

Cervical anastomotic fistula are reported in the surgical literature in 10-30% of the patients, providing a much longer hospitalisation, a higher morbidity and in some cases even mortality. Between 1997-2003, 91 patients underwent surgical treatment for esophageal cancers and 14 patients for chemical burns. In the cancer group the rate of resection was 67,03% (61 patients).
