Renal tubular dysgenesis (RTD) is a very rare malformation. 48 cases have been described, mostly in North America, Europe and Israel. Histopathological examination plays a key role in its diagnosis of RTD.

An aggressive clinical course and a poor prognosis are characteristic of this tumor. We evaluated the frequency and clinical and pathological appearance of TCC-TD in the Upper Galilee and Golan Heights between 1988 and 1995 inclusive.

Methods: Clinical details were obtained from patient records. Histopathological examination included immunohistochemistry.
Transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) with trophoblastic differentiation (TD) is a newly recognized variant of urothelial cancer which produces placental proteins, predominantly beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). It has a poor prognosis. About 210 cases were described, mostly from North America, Europe and Japan.

Most reports include cases of both anal and of rectal melanoma together. We report 2 women with primary melanoma of the rectum, aged 67 and 72 years, who underwent abdominoperineal resection and survived 5 and 7 months respectively.

Serial mucosal biopsies from the cecum to the rectum, were taken at colonoscopy and stained with aldehyde-fuchsin and alcian blue. The mean score of staining intensity in normals for sialomucins was higher than for sulfomucins, 1.

We present the case of twins born after 28 weeks gestation to a newly-arrived Ethiopian immigrant in whom oligohydramnios was diagnosed when she was admitted. 1 twin had developed polyhydramnios, died before birth and was born with hydrops fetalis.

The clinical diagnosis was oligohydramnios and abruptio placentae, respiratory failure, and anuria refractory to treatment. The autopsy revealed meconium ileus and meconium peritonitis.

Cystic changes of gastric mucosal glands have been described mainly after gastric operations, and like intestinal metaplasia and dysplasia, they may represent a premalignant condition. Their association with gastritis raises the possibility of their being secondary to the inflammatory process. Enterogastric reflux of duodenal contents, local chronic ischemia, and inflammatory reaction as a result of gastric surgery and suture at gastroenterostomy have been considered responsible for this lesion.

There were no laboratory findings of hyperparathyroidism nor coagulation disorder. Acute onset of vocal cord paralysis is rarely associated with benign processes; the current case is the first associated with parathyroid hyperplasia.

Thus there is a clear need for nonclinical diagnostic criteria for Behçet's disease. The nonspecific cutaneous hyperreactivity response, pathergy, may serve as an important diagnostic indicator.

This giant cell granuloma represents a reactive reaction that must be distinguished from the giant cell malignant tumor. The morphological, histochemical and immunohistochemical criteria that can aid in the differential diagnosis are discussed.

A 43-year-old woman developed recurrent attacks of intermittent obstructive jaundice 5 years after cholecystectomy. After 6 years of recurrent attacks, an obstructive lesion was finally demonstrated, and was diagnosed at surgery as an amputation (traumatic) neuroma of the midcommon bile duct (CBD). Symptoms disappeared following surgical removal of the lesion.

A combined histopathologic, histochemical, and immunohistochemical study of benign colorectal adenomas is presented. Specimens of 39 adenomas were studied by hematoxylin and eosin (HE) stain, alcian blue-periodic acid Schiff (AB-PAS), and high-iron-diamine-alcian blue (HID-AB). Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) was demonstrated by peroxidase-antiperoxidase (PAP) technique.

Samples were taken from the tumor, from the gastric mucosa 3 cm from the edge, and from the resected margins. In all 15 stomachs colonic intestinal metaplastic changes were present in the tumor tissue, as well as in the adjacent 3 cm mucosa and in the distant resected margins.

Adhesion formation to the peritoneal scar was investigated in 108 white Wistar rats which had undergone midline laparotomy under ether anaesthesia. In 92 rats a microtrauma was produced by rubbing the intraperitoneal organs with dry gauze. After this procedure in 46 rats the abdominal cavity was closed by suturing the peritoneum and fascia, and in another 46 rats the peritoneum was left untouched.
