Gene-modified leucoconcentrate for personalized gene therapy in a mini pig model of moderate spinal cord injury.

We previously demonstrated that gene-modified umbilical cord blood mononuclear cells overexpressing a combination of recombinant neurotrophic factors are a promising therapeutic approach for cell-mediated gene therapy for neurodegenerative diseases, neurotrauma, and stroke. In this study, using a mini pig model of spinal cord injury, we proposed for the first time the use of gene-modified leucoconcentrate prepared from peripheral blood in the plastic blood bag for personalized ex vivo gene therapy. Leucoconcentrate obtained from mini pig peripheral blood was transduced with a chimeric adenoviral vector (Ad5/35F) that carried an enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) reporter gene in the plastic blood bag.

[Health status of the adult population in Western districts of the Bryansk region in 1989].

The paper is devoted to the results of a study of the health status of the adult population in western districts of the Bryansk area, exposed to radiation fall-outs as a result of the Chernobyl accident, as presented by medical doctors and researchers of hospitals, research institutes, and the republican health services. The paper also deals with information on demographic processes and the level and state of health service in these regions. Analysis of the health status provides no opportunity to detect diseases caused by exposure of the population to ionizing radiation.

[Dosimetric basis for the use of radionuclide methods in obstetrics].

The problem of a possible use of radionuclide methods of investigation (placentography and renography) in obstetrics was considered. Doses and permissible activities in pregnant women of the AP category belonging to groups at high risk of obstetric and perinatal pathology were worked out on the basis of the "Rules and standards of open radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic purposes" (1984). [Evaluation of the functional and clinical qualities of the new GSG-2 dual-sensor gamma-topograph].

A double-sensor gamma-topograph model GSG-2 has been constructed to realize colour shade lining and black-and-white photographic registration of images reflecting spatial distribution of radioactive isotopes introduced to patients for diagnostic purposes. On the ground of trial tests the valuation of functional and clinical qualities of the device is given.
