Introduction The early diagnosis and appropriate treatment of monogenic glomerular diseases can reduce kidney failure, avoid unnecessary investigations such as kidney biopsies and ineffective treatment with immunosuppressants, guide transplant decisions, and inform the genetic risks of their family members. Yet, genetic testing for kidney disease is under-utilized in Singapore. We aimed to implement a nephrologist-led genetic service and evaluate the acceptance, adoption, utility and cost-effectiveness of genetic testing for monogenic glomerular disease in Singapore.

Purpose: Psoriasis is an inflammatory disease characterized by skin thickening with silvery white desquamation due to dysregulated inflammatory pathways and elevated levels of inflammatory cytokines. Biologic agents targeting these inflammatory cytokines have brought about significant improvement in clearing psoriatic lesions in patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis. Moreover, biologics exert both beneficial and detrimental effects on comorbidities in psoriasis, which include increased risk of cardiovascular events, metabolic syndrome, among other conditions.

Clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis in significantly thick acral lentiginous melanoma in Taiwan.

This retrospective cohort study enrolled 385 patients diagnosed with cutaneous melanoma from 1980 to 2021 in National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH). The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between thickness of primary melanoma lesions and disease outcome of melanoma patients, in particular, those diagnosed with acral lentiginous melanoma (ALM). The association between important clinicopathological characteristics other than tumor thickness and disease outcome was also analyzed.

Risk factors of recurrence and distant metastasis of acral lentiginous melanoma (ALM) are of great interest for the high percentage of ALM in cutaneous melanoma in Asian populations. This single-center retrospective cohort including 177 patients with localized melanoma diagnosed from 2004 to 2020 aims to identify adverse predictors in cutaneous melanoma in Taiwan, with a focus on ALM. The relationship between clinicopathological features and outcomes, including incidences of recurrence and distant metastasis in 5 years from diagnosis, was analyzed.

Introduction: The clinical presentation and outcomes of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) have not been well studied.

Methods: We performed a meta-analysis to examine the presenting features, outcomes and the effect of treatment on outcomes of KTRs with COVID-19. Database search was performed up to 5 September 2020 through PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus and CENTRAL.

Hereditary Hearing Impairment with Cutaneous Abnormalities.

Syndromic hereditary hearing impairment (HHI) is a clinically and etiologically diverse condition that has a profound influence on affected individuals and their families. As cutaneous findings are more apparent than hearing-related symptoms to clinicians and, more importantly, to caregivers of affected infants and young individuals, establishing a correlation map of skin manifestations and their underlying genetic causes is key to early identification and diagnosis of syndromic HHI. In this article, we performed a comprehensive PubMed database search on syndromic HHI with cutaneous abnormalities, and reviewed a total of 260 relevant publications.

The value of referral letter information in predicting inflammatory arthritis--factors important for effective triaging.

The aim of this study is to identify factors from referral information predictive of patients with inflammatory arthritis (IA) requiring early review. Four hundred twenty-six consecutive rheumatologist-triaged referrals from February to June 2012 were retrospectively reviewed to identify patients with rheumatologist-diagnosed IA correctly triaged for review within 2 weeks from referral date. Information from referral was analyzed descriptively followed by univariate logistic regression adjusted for age and sex to identify predictors of IA.
