This paper presents the results of the first intercomparison exercise on Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) dosimetry using sorbitol, where the performance parameters of sorbitol as dosimetric material were evaluated by three independent participants. Each participant was asked to determine a calibration curve using a set of sorbitol powder samples irradiated to four different doses (1.00, 2.

Aims: We sought to examine the association of proximal vessel tortuosity with the short and long-term outcomes of patients undergoing CTO PCI.
Methods: We examined the association of proximal vessel tortuosity with clinical outcomes in patients who underwent CTO PCI at 50 US and non-US centers between 2012 and 2024.
There are limited comparative data on the use of plaque modification devices during chronic total occlusion (CTO) percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). We compared intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) with rotational atherectomy (RA) for lesion preparation in patients who underwent CTO PCI across 50 US and non-US centers from 2019 to 2024. Of 15,690 patients who underwent CTO PCI during the study period, 436 (2.

This is a retrospective study including 100 subjects between 18 and 65 years of age with ESRD and not on dialysis treatment. Patients were divided into groups with and without HFpEF.

Background: An example of a sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitor is Empagliflozin. It is a new medicine for treating type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), but there is increasing interest in how empagliflozin affects the heart. This study aims to examine the impact of empagliflozin treatment on ventricular repolarization parameters in T2DM patients.

Introduction: Radial artery (RA) spasm is demonstrated to be one of the most common complications of transradial approach (TRA).
Aim: We hypothesised that radial flow-mediated dilation (FMD) can be used as a preprocedural method to assess the likelihood of arterial spasm.
Material And Methods: The patients were divided into 2 groups: those with and without flow-mediated RA dilatation.

The presence of background signal in tooth enamel EPR dosimetry is the most challenging situation to overcome. This becomes even more important because it obscures the radiation-induced signal, especially at radiation doses below 1 Gy. In order to overcome this problem, subtraction of the unirradiated sample signal from the irradiated one and the simulation methods are the most widely used methods in the literature.

The aim of this study was to investigate whether or not acute SD has a pathological effect on the geometry and the systolic and diastolic functions of the right and left heart chambers by standard transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) in healthy individuals with acute SD.
Methods: Nurses with no history of acute or chronic diseases underwent TTE and STE after working a night shift, a sleepless period of 24 h and 7 days of normal sleep after the night shift.
Aim Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a relatively common, heritable cardiomyopathy, and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) studies have been performed previously to evaluate different aspects of the disease. However, a comprehensive study, including all four cardiac chambers and analysis of left atrial (LA) function, is missing in the literature. The aim of this retrospective study was to analyze CMR-feature tracking (CMR-FT) strain parameters and atrial function of HCM patients and to investigate the association of these parameters with the amount of myocardial late gadolinium enhancement (LGE).

The main goal of the study was to determine the prevalence and associated factors of inappropriate dosing of direct oral anticoagulants in real-life settings.
Methods: This study was a multicenter, cross-sectional, observational study that included 2004 patients with atrial fibrillation.
We describe a rare case of isolated right ventricular inferior free-wall rupture and cardiogenic shock caused by occlusion of the distal left circumflex coronary artery. Our case highlights the central role of transthoracic echocardiography in identifying unexpected conditions that can guide management - in our case involving early surgical intervention, thus leading to favourable patient outcomes.

We report the baseline and clinical characteristics of the TURKMI population.
Methods: The TURKMI study is a nation-wide registry that was conducted in 50 centers capable of percutaneous coronary intervention selected from each EuroStat NUTS region in Turkey according to population sampling weight, prioritized by the number of hospitals in each region.

In the present work, spectroscopic features of the radiation-induced radicals of gallic acid compounds were investigated using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. While un-irradiated samples presented no EPR signal, irradiated samples exhibited an EPR spectrum consisting of an intense resonance line at the center and weak lines on both sides. Detailed microwave saturation investigations were carried out to determine the origin of the experimental EPR lines.

Two main different radicals were found to be responsible for the measured spectra of the irradiated samples. It is concluded that these two radicals have a structure similar to that of cyclohexadienyl-type (CHD) and benzyl-type (BNZ) radicals.

While the radiation-induced intermediates produced in these compounds are similar, their radiation yields are different.

In the present work, radiosensitivity and dosimetric potential of solid trisodium citrate dihydrate (SC) were explored through a detailed electron spin resonance (ESR) study performed at various temperatures. Irradiated SC was observed to exhibit an ESR spectrum consisting of many intense and weak resonance lines spread over a magnetic field range of 7 mT and centered at g = 2.0039.

Irradiated dl-TA presents an ESR spectrum with many unresolved resonance lines even at the lowest radiation dose applied (100 Gy). The evolution of the signal intensities associated with induced radical species with microwave power, applied dose and temperature was followed.
