Postoperative delirium is a frequent complication in children undergoing general anesthesia. It has been suggested that inflammation and oxidative stress contribute to the pathophysiology of delirium. The aim of our study was to investigate the relationship between inflammatory markers and delirium.

Background: Poor balance ability may contribute to shoulder pathology in patients with existing shoulder pathologies or vice versa. The relationship between kinesiophobia and chronic shoulder pain intensity has been researched, although the conclusions are conflicting. To our knowledge, no study in the literature explores the association between kinesiophobia and balance in patients with shoulder pain.

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of surface treatments and resin cement on the adhesion of ceramic and ceramic-like materials to titanium. A total of 40 specimens (5 mm diameter) of each material (lithium disilicate glass ceramic (LDGC-IPS e.maxCAD), lithium silicate glass ceramic (LSGC-VITA Suprinity) and a polymer-infiltrated ceramic network (PICN-Vita Enamic)) were fabricated using CAD/CAM technologies.

Background: Dental malocclusions may cause disruption in occlusal harmony, and destructive interferences during mandibular functional movements can be seen. Ideal occlusal contacts during dynamic mandibular movements may be crucial for preventing the occurrence of mid-buccal gingival recession (mbGR). While determining mbGR risk factors in young adults, the effect of occlusal interferences on mbGR has not yet been focused on.

Article Synopsis
  • Mpox is a zoonotic disease due to the Mpox virus, which was first noted outside its typical regions in Central and West Africa on May 21, 2022.
  • A study involving 647 patients across 16 countries found the majority of cases were young males, mostly homosexual-bisexual, with symptoms like rashes, fever, and lymphadenopathy.
  • The findings highlight the need for increased awareness and swift public health responses to manage Mpox’s spread beyond endemic regions.

Accumulation of excessive extracellular matrix (ECM) components from lung fibroblasts is a feature of systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease (SSc-ILD), and there is increasing evidence that innate immune signaling pathways contribute to these processes. Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are innate immune sensors activated by danger signals derived from pathogens or host molecular patterns. Several damage-associated molecular pattern (DAMP) molecules are elevated in SSc-ILD plasma, including ligands that activate TLR9, an innate immune sensor recently implicated in driving profibrotic responses in fibroblasts.

Background: Lateral epicondylitis (LE) can occur for many different reasons such as compelling repetitive movements in daily readings, incorrect posture use and work-related factors. Although several treatments are available for LE, the optimal evidence-based treatment remains uncertain. Joint protection techniques have been developed as a self-management intervention to reduce pain and disability and improve functionality by applying ergonomic approaches.

Aquaporin 5 (AQP5) is expressed in several cell types in the lung and regulates water transport, which contributes to barrier function during injury and the composition of glandular secretions. Reduced AQP5 expression is associated with barrier dysfunction during acute lung injury, and strategies to enhance its expression are associated with favorable phenotypes. Thus, pharmacologically enhancing AQP5 expression could be beneficial.

Objective: Whether Kinesio taping® (KT) might change the endurance of the cervical deep flexor muscles.

Methods: Healthy university students were assessed at baseline, immediately after the KT application over the posterior cervical muscles, and at a 24-h follow-up. The clinical assessment of the endurance of the deep cervical flexor muscles using the craniocervical flexion test (CCFT) was performed.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the genetic evaluation of a three-generation consanguineous family with isolated oligodontia.

Materials And Methods: A 16-year-old male patient who had been referred for orthodontic treatment due to the presence of oligodontia, and his family members who presented several missing teeth had been enrolled in the study. Clinical and radiological assessments and genetic analysis including whole-exome sequencing were performed.

Growing evidence links inflammation to depression and the combination of antiinflammatory drugs with an antidepressant to treat depressive symptoms is currently suggested. There are only few studies concerning the molecular mechanism underlying this comorbidity, and many of them point out the importance of the tryptophan pathway. There is yet no data that analyzes the structural similarity of the molecules used for the treatment of these comorbid diseases.

The aim of this study was to identify the effects of adding quercetin (Q) to Tris extender in order to identify levels of oxidative stress in bull sperm after freeze thawing. Ejaculates were collected via artificial vagina from Holstein bulls. Semen was divided into five tools and diluted to a final concentration of 15 × 10 spermatozoa/ml with the Tris extender containing Q (25, 50, 100 and 200 μg/ml) and no additive (control; C).
