Novel coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) continues to pose a threat all over the world with the effect of new variants. The frequency of other secondary infections such as aspergilloma in patients with COVID-19 disease is not uncommon. Extremely rare lesions such as ciliated muconodular papillary tumor can be masked by radiological images caused by COVID-19 infection or secondary pathologies associated with it, leading to difficulties in diagnosis.

Background: Inclusion of surgery in the treatment of T4 lung cancer has been a debate for the last two decades. The aim of this study is to investigate the potential prognostic factors which could affect the outcome.
Methods: Fifty-seven clinical T4 non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) patients out of 716 lung resections, who were operated at a single institution in 7 years period, were included in this study.

Methods: Thirty patients undergoing anatomical salvage lung resection were classified into three groups: GI, patients with progressive lung tumor despite definitive chemo- and/or radiotherapy; GII, patients who underwent emergency resection; and GIII, patients in whom neoadjuvant or definitive chemo- and/or radiotherapy was contraindicated because of severe comorbidities. The groups were compared based on, peri- and postoperative factors, and survival rates.
Advancements in modern technology bring many evolutions in minimally invasive surgery such as robot assisted approaches. Because of complete resection is so important in thymectomy operations, they became a new era for robotic surgery as a result of its superiorities (intuitive movements, tremor filtration, more degrees of manipulative freedom, motion scaling, and high-definition stereoscopic vision).

Background: We have shown the beneficial effects of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) on posttransplant lung function, when both donor and recipient were pretreated intravenously. However, systemic treatment of multiorgan donors may not be clinically relevant. Thus, we hypothesized that ex vivo treatment of donors with nebulized NAC would be adequate to prevent from ischemia-reperfusion injury after lung transplantation.

Objectives: Owing to the great absorption capability of the pleura for transudates, the protein content of draining pleural fluid may be considered as a more adequate determinant than its daily draining amount in the decision-making for earlier chest tube removal. In an a priori pilot study, we observed that the initially draining protein-rich exudate converts to a transudate quickly in most patients after lobectomies. Thus, chest tubes draining high-volume but low-protein fluids can safely be removed earlier in the absence of an air leak.
