This study investigates the impact of structural isomerism on the excited state lifetime and redox energetics of heteroleptic [Ir(ppy)2(bpy)]+ and homoleptic Ir(ppy)3 photoredox catalysts using ground-state and time-dependent density functional theory methods. While the ground- and excited-state reduction potentials differ only slightly among the isomers of these complexes, our findings reveal significant variations in the radiative and non-radiative decay rates of the reactivity-controlling triplet 3MLCT states of these closely related species. The observed differences in radiative decay rates could be traced back to variations in the transition dipole moment, vertical energy gaps, and spin-orbit coupling of the isomers.

Real-world psoriasis treatment patterns and disease burden in Germany, with a focus on biologics and apremilast: data from a German statutory health insurance database.

Background: Psoriasis is a chronic, systemic, inflammatory skin disease, with increasing prevalence; however, few studies have reported real-world prescription patterns and healthcare burden.

We evaluated a digital cognitive assessment platform, Philips IntelliSpace Cognition, in a case-control study of patients diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and cognitively normal (CN) older adults. Performance on individual neuropsychological tests, cognitive -scores, and Alzheimer's disease (AD)-specific composite scores was compared between the CN and MCI groups. Despite ongoing antibiotic development, evolution of resistance may render candidate antibiotics ineffective. Here we studied in vitro emergence of resistance to 13 antibiotics introduced after 2017 or currently in development, compared with in-use antibiotics. Laboratory evolution showed that clinically relevant resistance arises within 60 days of antibiotic exposure in Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, priority Gram-negative ESKAPE pathogens.

Literature reports several cases of non-gestational trophoblastic tumors of primary pulmonary origin, which pose diagnostic challenges and are associated with a poor prognosis. This report details a case of somatic high-grade carcinoma with trophoblastic differentiation primarily manifesting in the left lung with recurrent pneumothoraces.

Hydrogen sulfide (HS) is a gasotransmitter that modulates vascular tone, causing either vasodilation or vasoconstriction depending on the vascular bed, species, and experimental conditions. The cold-sensitive transient receptor potential ankyrin-1 (TRPA1) channel mediates HS-induced effects; however, its contribution to the vasomotor responses of different arteries at different temperatures has remained unclear. Here, we aimed to fill this gap by comparing the effects of sodium sulfide (NaS), which is a fast-releasing HS donor, on the isolated carotid and tail skin arteries of rats and mice at cold and normal body temperature with wire myography.

Intramolecular Inhibition by Imidazole in Acid-Catalyzed Hydrolysis of Protected Carbohydrates.

The present study reveals an unexpected anomaly observed in the acid-catalyzed hydrolysis of the 5,6-O-isopropylidene group in 3-O-protected D-gluco- and D-allofuranose derivatives. Although the removal of the 5,6-O-isopropylidene protecting group is typically rapid and quantitative under acidic conditions, an unexpected inhibition of this reaction is observed for the two C3-epimers, 3-O-imidazole sulfonyl moiety. X-ray data show a two-faced imidazole ring orientation in the crystal, while solution state NOE data reveal a critical interaction type between the isopropylidene and the imidazole rings.

More Than the Sum of Its Parts: Disrupted Core Periphery of Multiplex Brain Networks in Multiple Sclerosis.

Disruptions to brain networks, measured using structural (sMRI), diffusion (dMRI), or functional (fMRI) MRI, have been shown in people with multiple sclerosis (PwMS), highlighting the relevance of regions in the core of the connectome but yielding mixed results depending on the studied connectivity domain. Using a multilayer network approach, we integrated these three modalities to portray an enriched representation of the brain's core-periphery organization and explore its alterations in PwMS. In this retrospective cross-sectional study, we selected PwMS and healthy controls with complete multimodal brain MRI acquisitions from 13 European centers within the MAGNIMS network.
