The pursuit of artificial consciousness requires conceptual clarity to navigate its theoretical and empirical challenges. This paper introduces a composite, multilevel, and multidimensional model of consciousness as a heuristic framework to guide research in this field. Consciousness is treated as a complex phenomenon, with distinct constituents and dimensions that can be operationalized for study and for evaluating their replication.

Instead of relying on a single, dyadic mentor for career advice, we suggest creating and intentionally cultivating a professional network of colleagues (PNC) to guide your academic career. There are four archetypes to help clinician educators succeed in academic medicine: a traditional mentor, a sponsor, a coach, and a connector.1 However, these roles are not discrete, and overlap occurs.

However, available quality control technologies for plant-based drinks are time-consuming and expensive. Two alternative quality control methods, gas chromatography with ion mobility spectrometry (GC-IMS) and an electronic nose, were used to assess 111 plant-based drink samples.

Variants in the 5' upstream region that includes the promoter might affect CTRC expression but have not been investigated to date. The aim of the present study was to address this knowledge gap.

In cancer, TLS are associated with better prognosis and enhanced response to immunotherapy, making these structures attractive therapeutic targets. However, the mechanisms regulating TLS formation and maintenance in cancer are incompletely understood.

Patients And Methods: A propensity score-matching study was conducted at the Department of Surgery of the University of Pécs between January 2020 and December 2023. The study included patients who underwent upper GI cancer surgery and were treated according to an early oral feeding protocol (EOF).
The CEL-HYB1 hybrid allele of the carboxyl ester lipase (CEL) gene and its pseudogene (CELP) has been associated with chronic pancreatitis (CP). Recent work indicated that amino acid positions 488 and 548 in CEL-HYB1 determined pathogenicity. Haplotype Thr488-Ile548 was associated with CP while haplotypes Thr488-Thr548 and Ile488-Thr548 were benign.

Here, we report on the fuel cell performance and durability of fluorine-lean PEMs prepared by the post-sulfonation of co-grafted α-methylstyrene (AMS) and 2-methylene glutaronitrile (MGN) monomers into preirradiated 12 µm polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) base film. The membranes were subjected to two distinctly different accelerated stress test (AST) protocols performed at open-circuit voltage (OCV): the US Department of Energy-similar chemical AST (90 °C, 30% relative humidity (RH), H/air, 1 bar), developed originally for perfluoroalkylsulfonic acid (PFSA) membranes, and the high relative humidity AST (80 °C, 100% RH, H/O, 2.

Objective: Here, we mine large-scale MM proteogenomic data to identify druggable targets and forecast treatment efficacy and resistance.
Anemia is a common and disabling complication of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Current therapies can be burdensome, and full correction of anemia is limited by cardiovascular side effects. New approaches that may offer additional therapeutic options are needed.

This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the fit and trueness of fixed restorations made by AM compared to SM.
Data: Studies investigating internal fit, marginal fit, and trueness of fixed prostheses were involved.
Introduction: The integration of AI into healthcare is widely anticipated to revolutionize medical diagnostics, enabling earlier, more accurate disease detection and personalized care.
Methods: In this study, we developed and validated an AI-assisted diagnostic support tool using only routinely ordered and broadly available blood tests to predict the presence of major chronic and acute diseases as well as rare disorders.
Results: Our model was tested on both retrospective and prospective datasets comprising over one million patients.
Given that perioperative normothermia represents a quality parameter in pediatric anesthesia, numerous studies have been conducted on temperature measurement, albeit with heterogeneous measurement intervals, ranging from 30 s to fifteen minutes. We aimed to determine the minimum time interval for reporting of intraoperative core body temperature across commonly used measurement intervals in children. Data were extracted from the records of 65 children who had participated in another clinical study and analyzed using a quasibinomial mixed linear model.

A young patient from Georgia presented with pulmonary XDR-tuberculosis after months of failed treatment in his home country. Based on genotypic examinations of the sputum samples and a Georgian antibiogram the diagnosis was confirmed and an empirical treatment was started. Despite many initial uncertainties and severe side effects over the course of the treatment, for which treatment adjustments were necessary, the therapy was succesfull with clear clinical and radiological response.

Issues: Creating and implementing a plan to successfully quit smoking likely requires executive function (EF) skills such as inhibition, cognitive flexibility, attention and working memory. This scoping review consolidates the research evidence evaluating the role of EF in smoking cessation.
Approach: Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR), researchers and a medical librarian searched PubMed, EMBASE, ERIC, CINAHL and PSYCINFO in June 2022, hand-search in September 2022 using relevant MeSH terms, and an updated search was completed in August 2024.

Methods: This is a retrospective, mixed-methods (qualitative and quantitative) case study focusing on the work carried out by the pharmacovigilance committee in the years 2021 and 2022. The minutes of committee meetings were used to describe how the committee operates.
Urinary incontinence (UI) is a prevalent condition that significantly impacts the quality of life. This study aimed to validate the Hungarian version of the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Female Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (ICIQ-FLUTS) and assess its psychometric properties in the context of the Hungarian population. A cross-sectional study involved 215 Hungarian-speaking women with a mean age of 67.

Non-invasive treatments, such as casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP) and fluoride varnish, show potential in remineralizing affected enamel and reducing sensitivity, but their efficacy is still debated. This study systematically reviews and analyzes the effectiveness of CPP-ACP and other non-invasive agents in improving remineralization and reducing hypersensitivity in MIH-affected teeth.
