Iron microparticles were coated with polypyrrole in situ during the chemical oxidation of pyrrole with ammonium peroxydisulfate in aqueous medium. A series of hybrid organic/inorganic core-shell materials were prepared with 30-76 wt% iron content. Polypyrrole coating was revealed by scanning electron microscopy, and its molecular structure and completeness were proved by FTIR and Raman spectroscopies.

We developed and analyzed a novel non-sparking material based on CuAlBe for applications in potentially explosive environments. A styrene-butadiene-styrene co-polymer matrix nanocomposite filled with graphene nanoplatelets was studied to prepare chemiresistive volatile organic compounds (VOCs) room temperature sensors with considerable response and selectivity. Nanofiller concentration was estimated from the electrical conductivity percolation behaviour of the nanocomposite. Fabricated sensors provided selective relative responses to representative VOCs differing by orders of magnitude.

Metabolic syndrome, as a medical condition, presents multifactorial complexity that is characterized by the resulting damage from genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors (presence or absence of physical activity, food choices). Thus, metabolic syndrome qualifies unequivocally as a medical condition in which there are, simultaneously, several independent metabolic risk factors, namely, abdominal obesity, high triglyceride level, low HDL cholesterol level, arterial hypertension, and high glycemic level. Although age, sex, socio-economic status, and the precise definition of metabolic syndrome all influence the prevalence and risk of developing the condition, clinical and epidemiological studies clearly show that central obesity, as measured by an increased abdominal circumference, is the main risk factor.

In the emergency department, patients frequently present with abdominal pain, with a variety of different causes ranging from intra-abdominal to extra-abdominal and retroperitoneal pathologies which can affect all age groups. Chronic appendicitis is a rare medical condition characterized by less severe and continuous abdominal pain and a clinical picture lasting longer than 1-2 days and extending over months, even years, and it is not always possible to consider it as a preliminary diagnosis. Background: The health of children's lower extremities and feet is a focus area for caregivers and healthcare professionals such as doctors, school nurses, and podiatrists. Our study aims to investigate the general health status of Danish children's lower extremities and feet to identify anthropometric parameters that might be preconditions for pain and evaluate for foot diseases and whether they are associated with pain intensity and location, three-dimensional foot dimensions and foot pressure mapping, shoe dimensions, types and intensity of sports activity, quality of life, and foot health. The aim is that we will be able to identify parameters pre-dispositioning for pain, thus providing recommendations for sports activities in relation to the anthropometric conditions of a child as a potential preventive measure for pain.
