Purpose: This study was performed to evaluate the association between mechanical bowel preparation (MBP) and perioperative outcomes following nephrectomy in the minimally invasive surgery (MIS) era.
Methods: All partial and radical nephrectomies between 2019 and 2021 from the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program database were evaluated. Thirty-day perioperative outcomes were compared between groups where MBP was performed vs.
Purpose: Both lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and prostate cancer (PCa) are common in elderly men. While LUTS are generally due to a benign etiology, they may provoke an evaluation with prostate-specific antigen (PSA), which can lead to a cascade of further testing and possible overdiagnosis in patients with competing risks. There is limited patient and provider understanding of the relationship between LUTS and PCa risk, and a lack of clarity in how to evaluate these men to balance appropriate diagnosis of aggressive PCa with avoidance of overdiagnosis.

The etiology of CPP is complex, multifactorial, with heterogeneous presentation, and includes several diseases such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, and interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome. It may also be associated with sexual dysfunction, musculoskeletal disorders, and comorbid psychiatric symptoms.

The Southwestern region of Amazonas State is an example of a region where the soils were developed from rocks formed by sedimentary processes and, nowadays, the soils continue receiving seasonal inputs from the Andes sediments. Data on geochemical patterns of this region are scarce, and there is no information about the possible effects of the natural or unnatural enrichment of potentially toxic elements (PTEs).

Introduction: Cervical length measurement using transvaginal sonography at 18 -24 weeks of gestation is used to identify women at risk of preterm delivery, who may benefit from treatment with progesterone to prevent premature birth. Few and conflicting data exist regarding the predictive value of cervical length measurement performed at later gestational ages. The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the predictive accuracy for spontaneous preterm birth of a single cervical length measurement performed between 24 and 32 weeks of gestation in asymptomatic singleton pregnancies at low risk for spontaneous preterm birth.

The design used in this study is systematic review with meta-analysis. The data source includes PubMed and EMBASE searched up to March 2022.

Facial nerve palsy is one of the rare neurologic symptoms of KD, associated with a higher incidence of coronary arteries lesions and may be an indicator of a more severe disease. Here, we describe a case of lower motor neuron facial nerve palsy complicating KD and perform an extensive literature review to better characterize clinical features and treatment of patients with KD-associated facial nerve palsy.

This Phase 1/1b escalation/expansion study in US patients with solid tumors evaluated 5 once daily (QD) surufatinib doses (3 + 3 design) to identify maximum tolerated dose (MTD), recommended Phase 2 dose (RP2D), and evaluate safety and efficacy at the RP2D in 4 disease-specific expansion cohorts including pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors [pNET] and extrapancreatic NETs [epNET]. MTD and RP2D were 300 mg QD (escalation [n = 35]); 5 patients (15.

Recent research points to a possible link between microbiota and cancer, and the most recent attention is focusing on the relationship between the microbiome, the immune system, and cancer. The microbiome diversity can affect carcinogenesis and the patient's immune response, modulating the inflammatory cascade and the severity of adverse events.

The choice of management depends on many clinical parameters that should be taken into consideration, the first of which is the main presenting symptom. Most patients are today referred to medical therapy as a first option in the case of associated pain, and to IVF in the case of associated infertility.

We investigated clinical, demographic, laboratory, neurophysiological and imaging characteristics of SARS-CoV-2-positive children with seizures and analyzed differences between children admitted during the periods with prevalent circulation of the Alpha/Delta and Omicron variants, respectively. Patients' characteristics were analyzed according to the presence or absence of seizures and then according to the SARS-CoV-2 variants.

Aims Of The Study: To report on a case of a 5-year-old boy with focal refractory status epilepticus after an electrical injury.
The incidence of cancer in reproductive-aged women is 7%, but, despite the increased number of cancer cases, advances in early diagnosis and treatment have raised the survival rate. Furthermore, in the last four decades, there has been a rising trend of delaying childbearing. There has been an increasing number of couples referred to Reproductive Medicine Centers for infertility problems after one partner has been treated for cancer.

The aim of this cost analysis was to generate a comprehensive estimate of costs of platelet transfusions in Italy, focusing on patients with severe TCP due to CLD undergoing an elective procedure.
Methods: The research was conducted in different phases: 1) assessment of a pre-specified framework for the identification of processes related to PT; 2) estimation of resource consumption through Delphi technique and collection of unit costs through literature; 3) development of a cost analysis to estimate the overall average costs per PT, focusing on a representative patient with CLD and severe TCP.
In recent years, the introduction of advanced technologies has led to a new scientific revolution: the discovery of the human microbiota. Next-generation sequencing allowed the identification of microbial communities in all districts of the human body and, among these, 9% are distributed in the genitourinary system. The microbiota plays a key role in controlling the homeostasis, therefore dysbiosis can lead to an alteration of the physiological state of health.

Background And Objectives: Thermal ablation of tumors plays a key role to fight cancer, since it is a minimally invasive treatment which involves some advantages compared to surgery and chemotherapy, such as shorter hospital stays and consequently lower costs, along with minor side effects. In this context, computational modeling of heat transfer during thermal ablation is relevant to accurately predict the obtained ablation zone in order to avoid tumor recurrence risk caused by incomplete ablation, and the same time to save the surrounding healthy tissue. The aim of this work is to develop a more realistic porous media-based mathematical model to simulate a microwave thermal ablation (MWA) of an in vivo liver tumor surrounded by healthy tissue.

Only a limited number of studies have addressed the potential effect of SARS-CoV-2 infection on mental health so far. Most studies mainly reported the acute onset of mixed neuropsychiatric conditions in patients infected with SARS-CoV-2, characterized by agitated behavior, altered level of consciousness, and disorganized thinking, regardless of psychological or socioeconomic triggering factors.

Antipsychotics have emerged as possible inducing factors of BP. However, large sample studies concerning BP associated with antipsychotics, as well as with specific mental disorders, are still lacking.
