Hyrographic and trophic gradient along Izmir Bay used to assess their effects on the copepod composition and diversity. Trophic state of the bay varied from oligotrophic in the outer region to hypertrophic condition in the inner region as stated by trophic index (TRIX). Aegean Sea water entrance and trophic conditions of the bay affected species assemblages.

Article Synopsis
  • Plankton imaging systems with automated classification have enhanced the study of aquatic ecosystems by enabling detailed tracking of plankton populations.
  • These systems capture high-resolution imaging data, offering insights not only into species abundance but also into functional traits of individual plankton.
  • The text suggests using machine learning and computer vision techniques to analyze this imaging data, proposing that these methods could be applied to other organisms in both aquatic and terrestrial environments.

Pesticide residues in muscles of nine marine fish and four seaweed species of Iskenderun Bay (Northeastern Mediterranean) have been investigated. In sampled fish species, two herbicides, three insecticides, two fungicides, and one synergist were identified and quantified. Metribuzin DADK, propamocarb HCl, and piperonyl butoxide (PBO) were detected in all the muscles of sampled fish species.
