Psychodermatology: Knowledge, Awareness, Practicing Patterns, and Attitudes of Dermatologists in Turkey.

Objective: Approximately, 1 in 3 patients in dermatology settings has psychiatric comorbidity. Thus, we conducted a survey in Turkey to explore the awareness, knowledge, practicing patterns, and attitudes of dermatologists toward psychocutaneous disorders.
Method: The questionnaire-based study was performed from March 1, 2013, to May 20, 2013.

- The study involved 365 school students aged 8-18, examining how various sex hormones and sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) relate to insulin resistance and lipid levels in prepubertal and adolescent boys and girls.
- Findings revealed that estradiol in prepubertal boys was linked to higher insulin resistance and levels, while SHBG in adolescent girls was associated with lower insulin resistance; both groups showed significant connections between sex hormones and HDL-C levels.
Cardiovascular risk starts early in life, yet the patterns of changes in metabolic syndrome (MS) during puberty and normal development have not been completely defined. Sex hormones are shown to play a pivotal role in the modulation of insulin resistance and MS. Our aim is to clarify the relation between sex hormones and MS in normal children and adolescents.
