Preoperative nutritional factors as predictors of postoperative early outcomes in colorectal cancer - A prospective cohort study.

Introduction: in colorectal cancer (CRC) surgery, preoperative nutritional factors are often overlooked or underestimated. This situation represents a significant deficiency that may negatively affect patients' postoperative recovery processes. Objective: the objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of preoperative malnutrition, sarcopenia, obesity, and dietary inflammatory potential on early postoperative outcomes in CRC.

Serum irisin levels in newly diagnosed type-II diabetic patients: No association with the overall diet quality but strong association with fruit intake.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the serum irisin levels and diet quality of newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients in comparison with healthy controls and to identify the correlations between serum irisin levels with diet quality, anthropometric measurements and biochemical parameters.

Subjects/methods: This case-control study was conducted with 38 newly-diagnosed T2DM patients and 38 healthy control individuals. Diet quality was calculated from the semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire by using the Healthy Eating Index (HEI) 2015.
