Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates serum levels of kynurenine (KYN) and its metabolites in pregnant women with idiopathic fetal growth restriction (FGR) and oligohydramnios, as KYN is linked to important bodily functions like energy production and immune regulation.
  • Conducted as a case-control study at Ankara City Hospital, it compared pregnant women with FGR and oligohydramnios to low-risk controls, analyzing factors like age, BMI, and serum KYN levels.
  • Results showed significantly lower serum KYN levels in women with FGR and oligohydramnios, especially in those with FGR, indicating that KYN might be crucial in understanding and responding to these pregnancy complications.
