Mitochondria are critical for cellular energetic metabolism, intracellular signaling orchestration and programmed death regulation. Therefore, mitochondrial dysfunction is associated with various pathogeneses. The maintenance of mitochondrial homeostasis and functional recovery after injury are coordinated by mitochondrial biogenesis, dynamics and autophagy, which are collectively referred to as mitochondrial quality control.

This is the first retrospective and multi-case study on CIED infections due to staphylococcal SCVs, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for the clinical management of CIED and device-related infections caused by staphylococcal SCVs.
Methods: Ninety patients with culture positive CIED infections were enrolled between 2021 and 2022.
Due to the therapeutic resistance of endocrine therapy and the limited efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors in estrogen receptor (ER)-positive breast cancer (BRCA), there is an urgent need to develop novel prognostic markers and understand the regulation of the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME). As a matricellular protein, CYR61 has been shown to either promote or suppress cancer progression depending on cancer types. However, how CYR61 functions in ER-positive BRCA remains elusive.

This study assesses the diagnostic performance of using most distal CT-QFR versus lesion-specific CT-QFR approach for identifying hemodynamically obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD).
Methods: Prospectively enrolled de novo chest pain patients (n = 445) with ≥50 % visual diameter stenosis on CCTA were referred for invasive evaluation.

A base-promoted olefin skeletal rearrangement strategy from -quinone methides (-QMs) and -fluoroarenesulfonamides is reported, enabling direct nitrogen insertion of olefins to produce a series of multiarylated ()--sulfonyl amidines with complete stereoselectivity and generally good yields. Using -QMs without -hydroxy substituents gave triarylated -sulfonyl amidines, whereas tetraarylated ,'-disulfonyl amidines were synthesized with the existence of -hydroxy groups.

Objective: Krüpple-like factor 5 (KLF5) is a basic transcriptional factor that plays a key role in cell-cycle arrest and inhibition of apoptosis.
Background: Ultrasonic flow ratio (UFR) is a novel intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)-derived modality for fast computation of fractional flow reserve (FFR) without pressure wires and adenosine.
Aims: This study was sought to compare the diagnostic performance of UFR and quantitative flow ratio (QFR), using FFR as the reference standard.
Methods: This is a retrospective study enrolling consecutive patients with intermediate coronary artery lesions (diameter stenosis of 30%-90% by visual estimation) for IVUS and FFR measurement.
Oxidative/inflammatory stresses due to cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) cause prolonged microglia activation and cortical dysmaturation, thereby contributing to neurodevelopmental impairments in children with congenital heart disease (CHD). This study found that delivery of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) via CPB minimizes microglial activation and neuronal apoptosis, with subsequent improvement of cortical dysmaturation and behavioral alteration after neonatal cardiac surgery. Furthermore, transcriptomic analyses suggest that exosome-derived miRNAs may be the key drivers of suppressed apoptosis and STAT3-mediated microglial activation.

Objectives: The authors sought to investigate the association of RWS with fractional flow reserve (FFR) and high-risk plaque (HRP), and their relative prognostic implications.
Methods: We included 484 vessels (351 patients) deferred after FFR measurement with available RWS data and coronary computed tomography angiography.
Background: Stroke patients often experience psychological distress, which can impact their intimate relationships with spouses, subsequently influencing their treatment and recovery. Physical activity is considered a key rehabilitation method for stroke patients. This paper aims to analyze whether psychological distress affects intimate relationship between spouses through physical activity.

The association of serum uric acid levels and CKD patient mortality risk needs to be further determined by large sample cohort studies. The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey participants with CKD from 1998 to 2017 were enrolled in the study.

Methods: Children were enrolled with the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I-II undergoing elective hypospadias repair surgery. Children were grouped into two age groups: toddlerhood (1-3 years old) and preschool (3-6 years old).
As an important edible mushroom, morel mushroom (Morchella spp.) has been widely spread and cultivated in China. However, between 2022 and 2023, a rot disease with a natural incidence of 28% occurred in morel mushroom farms in the Qingpu district of Shanghai (N30°97', E121°06'), China.

The purpose of this research was to investigate the survival benefit of adjuvant transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) in patients with MVI after hepatectomy. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 1372 HCC patients who underwent curative liver resection in four medical institutions.

The results of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra confirmed the combination of cysteine and FeO exhibited much higher activity on activation of persulfate to generate more SO and •OH than FeO alone. At pH of 3.

De novo molecular generation is a promising approach to drug discovery, building novel molecules from the scratch that can bind the target proteins specifically. With the increasing availability of machine learning algorithms and computational power, artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a valuable tool for this purpose. Here, we have developed a database of 3D ligands that collects six AI models for de novo molecular generation based on target proteins, including 20 disease-associated targets.

The aim of this study was to construct and validate a novel nomogram model for predicting early relapse and survival after hepatectomy for HCC.
Patients And Methods: We conducted a large-scale, multicenter retrospective analysis of 1,505 patients with surgically treated HCC from 4 medical centers.
Objective: The aim of the study is to comprehensively assess the recovery effects of high-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in patients with poststroke cognitive impairment.
Methods: Six English and four Chinese databases were searched for relevant studies published up to January 2022. Randomized controlled trials of patients with poststroke cognitive impairment treated with high-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation were included.
Liver fibrosis is the integral process of chronic liver diseases caused by multiple etiologies and characterized by excessive deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM). During liver fibrosis, hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) transform into a highly proliferative, activated state, producing various cytokines, chemokines, and ECM. However, the precise mechanisms that license HSCs into the highly proliferative state remain unclear.
