Article Synopsis
- Pial arteriovenous fistula (PAVF) is a rare type of vascular lesion in the brain, where pial arteries directly connect to cerebral veins without an intervening structure, typically located in the subpial space.
- A 33-year-old female patient presented with seizures, and imaging revealed a PAVF fed by branches from the left posterior cerebral artery, draining into the dilated vein of Galen, which is important to distinguish from other vascular malformations.
- After confirming the diagnosis through digital subtraction angiography, the patient was successfully treated with transarterial glue embolization, demonstrating the effectiveness of MRI and MRA in diagnosing these conditions and planning treatment.
