Acute high intraocular pressure (IOP) induces retinal ischemia/reperfusion (RI/R) that further initiates neuroinflammatory responses. This event can cause retinal tissue damage and neuronal death, ultimately resulting in irreversible blindness worldwide that lacks effective therapies, validated treatment targets and underlying mechanisms. We sought to explore the potential mechanisms on the causal link between the neuroinflammatory response and neurodegeneration following acute high IOP.

But it still remains challenge to develop hydrogel through facile and sustainable methods. In this work, a conductive, flexible, bendable and self-healing hydrogel (PBCM) composed of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), borax, cellulose microfibers (CMFs) and MXene nanosheets was fabricated by a simple and efficient strategy.

Pembrolizumab and nivolumab, both anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibodies, were approved by the US FDA for unresectable or metastatic melanoma in 2011 and 2014, respectively, with enduring and transformative outcomes. Despite marked clinical achievements, only a subset of patients manifested a complete response.

Here, we develop a liposomal adjuvant, CAF®10b, that incorporates Mincle and Toll-like receptor 9 agonists. In parallel mouse and non-human primate studies comparing to CAF® adjuvants already in clinical trials, we report species-specific effects of adjuvant composition on the quality and magnitude of the responses.

CDCA2 plays a crucial role in various cellular processes, including chromosome segregation and decondensation, nuclear envelope reassembly, microtubule assembly, and DNA damage response. Additionally, CDCA2 is involved in multiple signaling pathways such as the PI3K/Akt pathway and p53 pathway.

Although the antitumor effect of apatinib has been well confirmed in advanced OS, the synergistic effect of apatinib and immunotherapies has not yet been elucidated.
Methods: In this study, we established tumour-bearing mice and observed tumour size with low and high doses of apatinib treatments.
Effective management of malignant tumor-induced bone defects remains challenging due to severe systemic side effects, substantial tumor recurrence, and long-lasting bone reconstruction post tumor resection. Magnesium and its alloys have recently emerged in clinics as orthopedics implantable metals but mostly restricted to mechanical devices. Here, by deposition of calcium-based bilayer coating on the surface, a Mg-based composite implant platform is developed with tailored degradation characteristics, simultaneously integrated with chemotherapeutic (Taxol) loading capacity.

However, drug resistance usually results in limited patient benefits. Recent single-cell RNA sequencing studies have elucidated that MM patients display distinctive transcriptional features of tumor cells, immune cells and interstitial cells, including loss of antigen presentation function of tumor cells, exhaustion of CD8+T and extracellular matrix secreted by fibroblasts to prevents immune infiltration, which leads to a poor response to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs).

A comprehensive array of characterization techniques, including SEM, XRD, BET, FT-IR, and XPS, were meticulously employed to scrutinize the structural attributes and morphological features of the Pb(II) adsorbent. Notably, the material exhibits adaptability to a broad pH range, with adsorption efficiency reaching 99 % between pH 3 and 6.

However, whether the number of biopsied sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs) influences the patients' survival is rarely investigated.
Methods: Acral or cutaneous melanoma patients with no history of nodal disease who received SLNB in Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center (FUSCC) from January 1, 2017, to December 31, 2021 were retrospectively enrolled.
Class-switching to IgG2a/c in mice is a hallmark response to intracellular pathogens. T cells can promote class-switching and the predominant pathway for induction of IgG2a/c antibody responses has been suggested to be via stimulation from Th1 cells. We previously formulated CAF®01 (cationic liposomes containing dimethyldioctadecylammonium bromide (DDA) and Trehalose-6,6-dibehenate (TDB)) with the lipidated TLR7/8 agonist 3M-052 (DDA/TDB/3M-052), which promoted robust Th1 immunity in newborn mice.

With longer life expectancy and the advent of new imaging modalities, clinical physicians will increasingly encounter and manage such cases. This study retrospectively reviewed cases of STM in visceral cancers who underwent surgery at Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center over a 7-year period.

Here, we employ single-cell and spatial transcriptomic analyses to investigate the dynamic evolution of early AM dissemination. Our findings reveal substantial inter- and intra-tumor heterogeneity in AM, alongside a highly immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment and complex intercellular communication networks, particularly in patients with LN metastasis.

At the same time, the existing treatment technology cannot keep up with the demand, resulting in the malicious destruction of the environment by wastewater, especially mercury-containing wastewater was very harmful. Effective means of removing mercury ions need to be found.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIn the context of industrialization and severe wastewater pollution, mercury ions pose a major threat due to their high toxicity. However, traditional adsorbents and common metal-organic framework (MOF) materials have limited effectiveness. This study focuses on combining magnetic materials with functionalized titanium-based MOF composite (SNN-MIL-125(Ti)@FeO) to improve mercury ion adsorption.

The present study focused on the effect of miR-93-5p on apoptosis of retinal neurons in acute ocular hypertension (AOH) model by regulating PDCD4 and explored its related mechanism. We detected that miR-93-5p expression was decreased and PDCD4 expression was increased in the AOH retina by qRT-PCR. Therefore, we explored the role of miR-93-5p and PDCD4.

However, for patients with a positive sentinel node, the MSLT-II and DeCOG-SLT trials have shown that immediate complete lymph node dissection (CLND) does not bring further survival benefits. There is still an argument among the Chinese population dominated by acral subtypes on whether CLND can be omitted.

Currently, immunotherapy with anti-PD-1 blockade and dual-targeted therapy with Dabrafenib plus trametinib (D + T) target therapy have been approved as adjuvant therapies for Stage III melanoma with BRAF V600 mutation. According to their phase III clinical trials, 3-year recurrence-free survival (RFS) is around 60% for both types of treatment.

Post-laser in situ keratomileusis (post-LASIK) ectasia (PLE) is one of the most serious complications after refractive surgery, mainly manifested as progressive thinning and trembling thinning of the cornea, accompanied by increased myopia and astigmatism. The mechanisms behind mainly include genetic risk factors and external environmental factors such as eye rubbing and cornea surgery. In order to achieve the goal of reducing the incidence of ectasia, preoperative screening strategies need to be continuously improved, through the collection and assessment of genetic and environmental risk factors.
