Parasitic myoma is a relatively rare disease in which one or more leiomyomas form outside the uterus; however, the detailed causes are unknown. Few sporadic reports are available, and per our research, the maximum number of parasitic myomas reported to date was 26, and almost all cases were treated by surgical resection. We report a rare case of numerous parasitic myomas in the abdominal cavity, possibly including an intrathoracic lesion, which could not be resected completely.

We report a straightforward and robust method for isolating medical copper radioisotopes Cu and Cu, generated by an accelerator neutrons technique from Zn(n, x). This study reveals the key role of a phosphate buffer pre-treatment of the cation exchange column in the separation process. Incorporating the phosphate buffer into the column pre-treatment markedly enhances the retention of copper isotopes within the column throughout the separation procedure.

Although the lithic cutting-edge productivity has long been recognized as a quantifiable aspect of prehistoric human technological evolution, there remains uncertainty how the productivity changed during the Middle-to-Upper Paleolithic transition. Here we present the cutting-edge productivity of eight lithic assemblages in the eastern Mediterranean region that represent a chrono-cultural sequence including the Late Middle Paleolithic, Initial Upper Paleolithic, the Early Upper Paleolithic, and the Epipaleolithic. The results show that a major increase in the cutting-edge productivity does not coincide with the conventional Middle-Upper Paleolithic boundary characterized by the increase in blades in the Initial Upper Paleolithic, but it occurs later in association with the development of bladelet technology in the Early Upper Paleolithic.

The Bloom syndrome helicase BLM interacts with topoisomerase IIIα (TOP3A), RMI1, and RMI2 to form the BTR complex, which dissolves double Holliday junctions and DNA replication intermediates to promote sister chromatid disjunction before cell division. In its absence, structure-specific nucleases like the SMX complex (comprising SLX1-SLX4, MUS81-EME1, and XPF-ERCC1) can cleave joint DNA molecules instead, but cells deficient in both BTR and SMX are not viable. We previously reported that our sugar-conjugated platinum complex (cis-dichloro [(2-fluoro-α-d-glucopylanosidyl) propane-1,3-diamine] platinum: FGC-Pt) has low toxicity and tumor growth inhibitory effect comparable to that of cisplatin. We focused on radioactive Pt isotopes in order to analyze the kinetics of FGC-Pt using gamma-ray imaging techniques, assuming that FGC-Pt could be used for chemotherapy in the future. Tiny amount of bacteria are found in the pancreas in pancreatitis and cancer, which seemed involved in inflammation and carcinogenesis. However, bacterial infiltration from the duodenum is inhibited by the physical defense mechanisms such as bile flow and the sphincter of Oddi. To understand how the bacteria possibly infiltrate the pancreas through a deformable pancreatic duct, influenced by the periodic contractions of the sphincter of Oddi, a mathematical model of bacterial infiltration is developed that considered large deformation, fluid flow, and bacterial transport in a deformable pancreatic duct.

By mining fungal genomic information, a noncanonical iterative type I PKS fused with an N-terminal adenylation-thiolation didomain, which catalyzes the formation of naringenin chalcone, was found. Structural prediction and molecular docking analysis indicated that a C-terminal thioesterase domain was involved in the Claisen-type cyclization. Affinity analysis using Hansen solubility parameters (HSP) reveals that the gel-sol transition point of binary organogels is correlated with preferential interactions between the solvophilic moiety of gelators and solvents.
