Primary intra-abdominal malignant fibrous histiocytoma: a highly aggressive tumor.

Background And Purpose: Malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) is the most common soft-tissue sarcoma of late adult life occurring predominantly in the extremities. Primary intra-abdominal MFH is a very rare occurrence. The aim of this study is to describe a very rare case of an intra-abdominal MFH with a highly aggressive clinical course.

Small bowel intussusception due to a primary non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. An unusual presentation and clinical course.

Background/purpose: Adult intussusception is a rare clinical entity accounting for 5% of all intussusceptions. Symptoms and signs are often vague and non-specific making a preoperative diagnosis difficult. The purpose of this study is to present a rare case of a jejuno-jejunal intussusception due to primary intestinal non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in a patient with an unusual clinical course.

Idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis (IRF) entirely confined to the pelvic cavity is an extremely rare clinical entity. Herein, is described the case of a 36- year old male who presented with clinical and imaging manifestations of a large pelvic tumor. Exploratory laparotomy revealed a large mass in the right pelvis originating from the retroperitoneal space, displacing the right iliac vessels, the right ureter and the urinary bladder completely to the left.

Synchronous occurrence of advanced adenocarcinoma with a stromal tumor in the stomach: a case report.

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are rare mesenchymal neoplasms of the digestive tract. Synchronous occurrence of a gastrointestinal stromal tumor with a tumor of different histogenesis is very rare and has been documented in the literature mainly in case reports. We present the case of a 78-year old female patient who underwent surgery for an advanced gastric carcinoma during which a gastric stromal tumor was incidentally discovered.

Large intraparotid facial nerve schwannoma: case report and review of the literature.

Here is reported an extremely rare case of a large intraparotid facial nerve schwannoma in a 32-year-old female who presented with a parotid mass. There had been a long clinical course and sudden onset of facial weakness. Diagnostic evaluation and surgical management are discussed along with a brief review of the literature.

Peritoneal mesothelioma presenting as an acute surgical abdomen due to jejunal perforation.

Background: Peritoneal mesothelioma is a rare disease associated with poor prognosis. Acute abdomen as the first presentation is an extremely rare occurrence. We report an exceptional case of a patient who was found to have a jejunal perforation due to infiltration of peritoneal mesothelioma.

Spontaneous rupture of a giant non parasitic hepatic cyst presenting as an acute surgical abdomen.

Spontaneous rupture of a non parasitic hepatic cyst is an extremely rare occurrence. A 50 -year- old male, was admitted with typical clinical manifestations of acute surgical abdomen. At exploratory laparotomy, a giant ruptured non parasitic cyst occupying the entire left liver lobe was found, along with a large amount of free intraperitoneal fluid.

Segmental liver incarceration through a recurrent incisional lumbar hernia.

Background: Lumbar hernia is a rare congenital or acquired defect of the posterior abdominal wall. The acquired type is more common and occurs mainly as an incisional defect after flank surgery. Incarceration or strangulation of hernia contents is uncommon.

Perforated appendix and periappendicular abscess within an inguinal hernia.

We report an extremely rare case of complicated Amyand's hernia. A 61-year-old male patient was admitted with clinical signs of incarcerated right inguinal hernia and localised tenderness in the right iliac fossa. He underwent emergency surgery and the operative findings included perforated appendix and periappendicular abscess within a right inguinal hernia sac.
