Factors associated with neonatal jaundice among neonates admitted at referral hospitals in northeast Ethiopia: a facility-based unmatched case-control study.

Background: Neonatal jaundice is a significant contributor to illness and death in newborns, leading to frequent admissions to neonatal intensive care units. To better understand this issue, a study was conducted to identify the factors contributing to neonatal jaundice among newborns admitted to Dessie and Woldia comprehensive specialized hospitals in northeast Ethiopia.

Methods: The study took place from April 1 to May 30, 2022, using unmatched case-control design.

Sepsis: emerging pathogens and antimicrobial resistance in Ethiopian referral hospitals.

Background: Sepsis due to multidrug resistant (MDR) bacteria is a growing public health problem mainly in low-income countries.

Methods: A multicenter study was conducted between October 2019 and September 2020 at four hospitals located in central (Tikur Anbessa and Yekatit 12), southern (Hawassa) and northern (Dessie) parts of Ethiopia. A total of 1416 patients clinically investigated for sepsis were enrolled.
