Objective: This study investigated whether artificial intelligence (AI) models combining voice signals, demographics, and structured medical records can detect glottic neoplasm from benign voice disorders.

Methods: We used a primary dataset containing 2-3 s of vowel "ah", demographics, and 26 items of structured medical records (e.g.

Article Synopsis
  • * Scientists created a special type of nanoparticles called nanophotosensitizers (NPS) that are better at producing heat and light to attack cancer cells.
  • * This method helps to fight cancer by directly damaging the cells and making them unable to survive, leading to better results in reducing tumor growth.

Article Synopsis
  • The study reveals a significant rise in esophageal cancer (EC) incidence in Taiwan, particularly in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) among men from 1985 to 2019, with an average annual percentage change (AAPC) of 4.2%.
  • Age-period-cohort modeling highlighted increased period effects for ESCC in both genders and esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) in men, indicating notable trends over time.
  • There is a strong correlation between rising incidence rates of ESCC and the prevalence of risk factors, particularly linked to birth-cohort effects from 1970 to 1995.

In this paper, a one-pot facile route for the BiCl/RuCl-mediated synthesis of functionalized flavones is described, including: (i) intermolecular -acylation of substituted phenols with cinnamoyl chlorides, and (ii) intramolecular cyclodehydrogenation of the resulting -hydroxychalcones. The reaction conditions are discussed herein.

Intramolecular stereoselective annulation of o-cinnamyloxy chalcones provides two kinds of tricyclic benzofused cyclobutaoxepanones via the synthesized routes of DABCO/NBS (1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane/N-bromosuccinimide)-mediated Baylis-Hillman type cyclization or low-pressure mercury (LP Hg) lamp-promoted photocontrolled [2 + 2] cycloaddition.

Electrocardiograms (ECGs) are widely used to clinically detect cardiac arrhythmias (CAs). They are also being used to develop computer-assisted methods for heart disease diagnosis. We have developed a convolution neural network model to detect and classify CAs, using a large 12-lead ECG dataset (6,877 recordings) provided by the China Physiological Signal Challenge (CPSC) 2018.

NHOAc/PdCl/CuCl mediated domino double cyclocondensation of α-sulfonyl -hydroxyacetophenones and 2-allylbenzaldehydes provides tetracyclic sulfonyl dihydrobenzo[]xanthen-7-one core with good to excellent yields in MeOH. The intermediates contain a 3-sulfonyl flavanone motif. Only water is generated as a byproduct.

Article Synopsis
  • Parkinson's disease (PD) is a common neurodegenerative disorder in the elderly, marked by the loss of dopamine-producing neurons and motor dysfunction, with unclear causes related to α-synuclein aggregation.
  • Current treatments alleviate symptoms but don't cure PD, prompting research into new therapies like betulin, which is derived from birch trees and has various health benefits.
  • In studies using Caenorhabditis elegans models, betulin reduced α-synuclein buildup, protected dopaminergic neurons, improved behavior, and potentially worked by enhancing proteasome activity and modulating apoptosis pathways.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system that is characterized by progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta as well as motor impairment. Aggregation of α-synuclein in neuronal cells plays a key role in this disease. At present, therapeutics for PD provides moderate symptomatic benefits, but it is not able to delay the development of the disease.
