Objectives: This study aimed to translate and validate the Vietnamese version of the Epilepsy Self-Management Scale (V-ESMS).
Methods: The translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the original version of the ESMS into Vietnamese followed the Principles of Good Practice for the Translation and Cultural Adaptation Process for Patient-Reported Outcomes Measures guideline with "forward-backward" translation and culturally adapted. The participants were recruited consecutively at neurology clinics at Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital and University Medical Center, Ho Chi Minh City, from January 2022 to July 2022 and required to complete the V-ESMS.

Background: Wearable devices have been used extensively both inside and outside of the hospital setting. During the COVID-19 pandemic, in some contexts, there was an increased need to remotely monitor pulse and saturated oxygen for patients due to the lack of staff and bedside monitors.
Objective: A prototype of a remote monitoring system using wearable pulse oximeter devices was implemented at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from August to December 2021.
This paper introduces a new control strategy for robot manipulators, specifically designed to tackle the challenges associated with traditional model-based sliding mode (SM) controller design. These challenges include the need for accurately computed system models, knowledge of disturbance upper bounds, fixed-time convergence, prescribed performance, and the generation of chattering. To overcome these obstacles, we propose the incorporation of a neural network (NN) that effectively addresses these issues by removing the constraint of a precise system model.

We previously reported on a class of 1,2,3-triazolo fused betulonic acid derivatives causing strong inhibition of HCoV-229E replication via the viral nsp15 protein, which is proposedly related to compound binding at an intermonomer interface in hexameric nsp15. In the present study, we further explored the structure-activity relationship (SAR), by varying the substituent at the 1,2,3-triazolo ring as well as the triterpenoid skeleton.

Pill identification, thus, is a crucial concern that needs to be investigated thoroughly. Recently, several attempts have been made to exploit deep learning to tackle the pill identification problem.

A modified function of Global Fast Terminal Sliding Mode Manifold (GFTSMM) based on the transformed error of the novel PPC is introduced; hence, the error variable quickly converges to the equilibrium point with the prescribed performance, which means that maximum overshoot and steady-state of the controlled errors will be in a knowledge-defined boundary. To enhance the performance of Global Fast Terminal Sliding Mode Control (GFTSMC) and to reduce chattering in the control input, a modified third-order sliding mode observer (MTOSMO) is proposed to estimate the whole uncertainty and external disturbance.

It is therefore necessary to define a suitable performance function and error transformation to guarantee a prescribed performance within a finite time. Following the definitions mentioned, a modified integral nonlinear sliding-mode hyperplane is constructed from the transformed errors.

The ordinary method is based on TSMCs that secure trajectory tracking under the assumptions such as the known robot dynamic model and the determined upper boundary of uncertain components. Despite tracking errors that tend to zero in finite time, the weakness of TSMCs is chattering, slow convergence speed, and the need for the exact robot dynamic model.

The novel fixed-time nonsingular sliding mode surface enables control errors to converge to the equilibrium point quickly within fixed time without singularity. The development of the novel fixed-time disturbance observer based on a uniform robust exact differentiator also allows uncertain terms and exterior disturbances to be proactively addressed.

In response to such threat, a wide range of digital health applications has been deployed in Vietnam to strengthen surveillance, risk communication, diagnosis, and treatment of COVID-19. Digital health has brought enormous benefits to the fight against COVID-19, however, numerous constrains in digital health application remain.

In this study we evaluate HCV RNA and HCV antigen testing on DBS in HIV/HCV co-infected peoples who inject drugs in Vietnam.
Method: One hundred and four HIV/HCV seropositive patients managed in outpatient care at the Haiphong Viet Tiep hospital were included in this study from February to March, 2014 (ANRS 12262 study).

The Mel strain of can reduce the permissiveness of mosquitoes to disseminated arboviral infections. Here, we report that Mel-infected (Ho Chi Minh City background), when directly blood-fed on 141 viremic dengue patients, have lower dengue virus (DENV) transmission potential and have a longer extrinsic incubation period than their wild-type counterparts. The Mel-infected mosquitoes that are field-reared have even greater relative resistance to DENV infection when fed on patient-derived viremic blood meals.

Objective: Immune response to pegIFNα-ribavirin therapy was explored in patients coinfected by HCV and HIV.
Methods: Concentrations of 25 cytokines and CD8(+) T cell activation were monitored in HCV/HIV coinfected patients classified as sustained virological responders (SVR, n=19) and non-responders (NR, n=11).
Background: Point-of-care testing and diagnosis of HIV acute infections play important roles in preventing transmission, but HIV rapid diagnosis tests have poor capacity to detect early infections. Filter paper can be used for capillary blood collection and HIV testing using 4th generation immunoassays.
Objectives: Antigen/antibody combined immunoassays were evaluated for their capacity to identify early HIV infections using filter paper in comparison with rapid test.

Dengue is the most prevalent arboviral disease of humans. The host and virus variables associated with dengue virus (DENV) transmission from symptomatic dengue cases (n = 208) to Aedes aegypti mosquitoes during 407 independent exposure events was defined. The 50% mosquito infectious dose for each of DENV-1-4 ranged from 6.

p53 mediates apoptosis of cells after DNA damage including tumor cells after radiation or chemotherapy. Survival of isolated cancer cells after therapy leads to recurrence of therapy-resistant tumors. We now show that for some melanoma, sarcoma, or fibroblastic cell types that survive without integrin-mediated adhesion, apoptosis in response to DNA damage requires cell adhesion.
