Aim And Background: Automated perimetry plays an important role in the diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma patients. The purpose of this study is to prospectively determine parity between Humphrey visual field analyzer (HVFA) perimetry (the current gold standard) and the VisuALL virtual reality perimeter (VRP).
Materials And Methods: In this prospective fully paired diagnostic accuracy study, patients with stable, long-term HVFA visual fields (horizontal dots for ≥4 consecutive visits on progression analysis) with preperimetric, mild, moderate, or severe visual field loss were familiarized with the VRP and then tested using its proprietary software.

Purpose: Following the emergence of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) eye care practitioners have become accustomed to identifying and managing an array of ocular complications following the viral infection. Acute macular neuroretinopathy (AMN) is one such complication that has been reported. While the etiology of AMN has eluded researchers, current literature is suggestive of a microvascular compromise within the deep capillary plexus of the retina.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFCRISPR activation (CRISPRa) is a burgeoning technology for programmable gene activation, but its potential for tissue regeneration has yet to be fully explored. Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) can differentiate into osteogenic or adipogenic pathways, which are governed by the Wnt (Wingless-related integration site) signaling cascade. To promote BMSC differentiation toward osteogenesis and improve calvarial bone healing by BMSCs, we harnessed a highly efficient hybrid baculovirus vector for gene delivery and exploited a synergistic activation mediator (SAM)-based CRISPRa system to activate Wnt10b (that triggers the canonical Wnt pathway) and forkhead c2 (Foxc2) (that elicits the noncanonical Wnt pathway) in BMSCs.

Although adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) hold promise to heal bone defects, use of ASCs for critical-size calvarial bone repair is ineffective. Stromal cell-derived factor 1 (SDF-1) is a chemokine capable of triggering stem cell migration.

From the aerial part of Boerhaavia erecta L., three new rotenoids (3, 8, 10) and two new coumaronochromonoids (6, 11) were isolated, together with ten known compounds. The structure of the new compounds was established by one dimensional (1D)- and 2D-NMR spectroscopy, as well as high resolution-electrospray ionization (HR-ESI)-MS analysis.
