Stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) are a pressing problem in Vietnam, in particular because of propaganda associating HIV with the "social evils" of sex work and drug use. A retrospective study of the patterns of antimicrobial susceptibility and phage types of 111 Salmonella typhi strains isolated in 1996 from Vietnam was carried out. The Krukenberg operation involves surgical separation of the radius and ulna in a hand or forearm amputee. Thus the forearm is converted into two rays with good grasp and tactile sensation.
