Introduction: Although sagittal alignment is known to influence pelvic position, few studies accurately identify the relationship between sagittal alignment and acetabular orientation. We hypothesized that postoperative PT should be correlated with acetabular change in native hips after surgical correction of adult spinal deformity. The objective of this study was therefore to describe the correlation between the change in pelvic tilt and the change in acetabular orientation two years after surgical correction of adult spinal deformity.

An updated classification of the anatomical variations of the internal iliac venous drainage system: Surgical implications for anterior lumbar spinal approaches.

Background: Advanced pelvic surgery is associated with potential vascular risks. The aim of this study was to complete the existing classification of the anatomical variations of the internal iliac veins encountered on a series of preoperative angio CT with a view to performing anterior lumbar spine surgery.

Materials And Methods: In this monocentric retrospective study conducted between 2010 and 2020, all preoperative angio CT performed before an anterior lumbar surgery were systematically analyzed.

The proximal femur fracture epidemic continued during the COVID-19 pandemic: Results of an observational study.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to compare the volume and characteristics of emergency trauma surgery procedures done at our hospital between March 20 and April 20, 2020 (the first month of the national lockdown in France) and to compare these data to the same period in 2019. We hypothesized that a portion of fractures are unavoidable, thus specific preventative measures will be needed to reduce their incidence.

Methods: This was a continuous, observational and single center study.

Objective: This prospective study aimed to investigate the role of migraine in favouring the onset of persistent postural perceptual dizziness (PPPD) following paroxysmal positional vertigo (PPV).

Methods: A group of patients who came to our attention suffering of PPV with or without migraine and/or vestibular migraine (VM) was examined. Three months after the resolution, an anamnestic research was conducted aimed at establishing whether any patient-related dizziness could meet the diagnostic criteria for PPPD.

Minimally invasive triangular lumboiliac and iliosacral fixation of posterior pelvic ring injuries with vertical instability: Technical note.

To date, no strong consensus exists on the best way to treat posterior pelvic ring injuries when there is no neurological deficit. Various fixation methods have been described; more recently, constructs that combine lumboiliac and iliosacral fixation have been introduced. This type of fixation is mainly indicated in cases of spinopelvic dissociation with large displacement of fracture fragments in the sagittal plane.

Optimal Correction of Adult Spinal Deformities Requires Restoration of Distal Lumbar Lordosis.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to analyze results according to postoperative pelvic incidence-lumbar lordosis (PI-LL) mismatch in the management of adult spine deformity (ASD) patients. Recently, it has been reported that in addition to lumbar lordosis amount, lordosis repartition between its proximal and distal parts was crucial.

Methods: We enrolled 77 consecutive ASD patients who underwent posterior spinal fusion and deformity correction between 2015 and 2018.

Spinal rods used for posterior fixation are usually delivered straight and bended manually during surgery. This manual bending can be responsible for undercorrection of the deformity.

French Spine Surgery Society guidelines for management of spinal surgeries during COVID-19 pandemic.

Since the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in December 2019 in China, various measures have been adopted in order to attenuate the impact of the virus on the population. With regard to spine surgery, French physicians are devoted to take place in the national plan against COVID-19, the French Spine Surgery Society therefore decided to elaborate specific guidelines for management of spinal disorders during COVID-19 pandemic in order to prioritize management of patients. A three levels stratification was elaborated with Level I: Urgent surgical indications, Level II: Surgical indications associated to a potential loss of chance for the patient and Level III: Non-urgent surgical indications.

Introduction: Based on global knowledge regarding sagittal alignment, preoperative planning is a crucial point in the management of adult spinal deformity (ASD). Patient-specific rods (PSR) have been recently developed in order to change preoperative planning into a postoperative reality. Surgeon's and patient's radiation exposure during percutaneous thoraco-lumbar pedicle screw fixation: A prospective multicenter study of 100 cases.

Hypothesis: Percutaneous pedicle screw fixations (PPSF) are increasingly used in spine surgery, minimizing morbidity through less muscle breakdown but at the cost of intraoperative fluoroscopic guidance that generates high radiation exposure. Few studies have been conducted to measure them accurately.

Material And Methods: The objective of our study is to quantify, during a PPSF carried out in different experimented centers respecting current radiation protection recommendations, this irradiation at the level of the surgeon and the patient.

Purpose: To assess clinical and radiological outcomes at 2-year follow-up of one-level minimally invasive transforaminal interbody fusion with unilateral pedicle screw fixation (UNILIF) in the treatment of stable lumbar degenerative diseases.

Methods: From January 1, 2012 to January 31, 2013, we prospectively collected clinical and radiological data on patients with stable degenerative lumbar disease managed by UNILIF in a single institution. Preoperatively and at 2 years, we recorded ODI, SF-12, Quebec and VAS.

Is anatomic acetabular orientation related to pelvic morphology? CT analysis of 150 healthy pelvises.

Background: Links between sagittal spinal alignment and acetabular orientation attract considerable research attention with the goal of optimising prosthetic cup position. However, whether pelvic incidence (PI) is related to anatomic acetabular orientation remains unknown. We therefore conducted a radiological study with the following objectives: to look for correlations between PI and anatomic acetabular parameters; to describe the sacro-pubic angle (SPA), defined by fixed bony pelvic landmarks, and its relations with acetabular anteversion; and to determine whether anatomical parameters (PI and SPA) correlate with demographic characteristics.

Percutaneous surgery for thoraco-lumbar fractures in ankylosing spondylitis: Study of 31 patients.

Background: The risk of vertebral fracture is increased 4-fold in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Diagnostic challenges and the vulnerability associated with AS combine to generate high morbidity and mortality rates. The objective of this study was to assess the outcome of percutaneous thoraco-lumbar fracture surgery in patients with AS, in terms of quality of life, fracture healing, and complications.

Trends in the surgical management of odontoid fractures in patients above 75 years of age: Retrospective study of 70 cases.

Background: Odontoid fractures are the most common upper cervical spine fracture in adults over 70 years of age. Hence, treatment of these fractures has public health implications.

Objectives: Evaluate the early complications, bone healing and mortality in patients above 75 years of age who undergo surgical treatment of an odontoid fracture.

[Use of pedicle percutaneous cemented screws in the management of patients with poor bone stock].

Introduction: Management of patients with poor bone stock remains difficult due to the risks of mechanical complications such as screws pullouts. At the same time, development of minimal invasive spinal techniques using a percutaneous approach is greatly adapted to these fragile patients with a reduction in operative time and complications. The aim of this study was to report our experience with cemented percutaneous screws in the management of patients with a poor bone stock.

Surgical techniques for lumbo-sacral fusion.

Lumbo-sacral (L5-S1) fusion is a widely performed procedure that has become the reference standard treatment for refractory low back pain. L5-S1 is a complex transition zone between the mobile lordotic distal lumbar spine and the fixed sacral region.
