Fluorescence nanosilica-based cell tracker has been explored and applied in cell biological research. However, the aggregation of these nanoparticles at physiological pH is still the main limitation. In this research, we introduced a novel fluorescence nano-based cell tracker suitable for application in live cells.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are a group of concerned persistent toxic substances, especially for their application or unintentional formation in food contact materials (FCMs). However, information about the occurrence, sources, and fate of these pollutants in food packaging materials from Vietnam as well as Southeast Asian countries is probably still obscured. In this study, levels of 13 perfluoroalkyl carboxylic acids (PFCAs) and 4 sulfonates (PFSs) were determined in various types of food packaging samples collected from Vietnamese markets.

In demanding high-power applications of piezoelectric materials, acceptor doping serves as the state-of-the-art hardening approach, but inevitably deteriorates the electromechanical properties. Here, a new hardening effect associated with isolated oxygen vacancies for achieving well-balanced performances is proposed.

The proposed new fiber plastic hinge method simulating only one element for each member captures the time-history dynamic behavior of steel frames as accurately as sophisticated plastic zone methods. Stability functions and the geometric stiffness matrix are employed for predicting the second-order effects that aim to minimize computational time and computer resources.

Doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX·HCl) is a chemo-drug absorbed onto the SiO NPs surfaces. The DOX·HCl loading onto and release from the SiO NPs was monitored via UV-VIS and fluorescence spectra.

In practice, about 180 nm sized polyol-made FeO spheres, constituted by 10 nm sized crystals, were functionalized by (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES) to become positively charged, which can then electrostatically interact with negatively charged silver seeds. Silver petals were formed by seed-mediated growth in presence of Ag cations and self-assembly, using L-ascorbic acid (L-AA) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) as mid-reducing and stabilizing agents, respectively.

Antibiotic residues and antimicrobial resistance in surface water are issues of global concern, especially in developing countries. In this study, the occurrence of seven antibiotics and one antiparasitic agent was determined in surface water samples collected from four rivers running through Hanoi urban area in the Red River Delta, northern Vietnam. The pharmaceuticals in water samples were analyzed by solid-phase extraction combined with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method.

This review provides focused insights into the contamination status, sources, and ecological risks associated with multiple classes of antibiotics in surface water from the East and Southeast Asia based on publications over the period 2007 to 2020. Antibiotics are ubiquitous in surface water of these countries with concentrations ranging from <1 ng/L to hundreds μg/L and median values from 10 to 100 ng/L. Wider ranges and higher maximum concentrations of certain antibiotics were found in surface water of the East Asian countries like China and South Korea than in the Southeast Asian nations.

When the mesoporous silica layer is embedded by doxorubicin drugs, a significant change in absorption spectra enables to quantify the drug loading. We carried out photothermal experiments on saline and livers of mice having GNRs@mSiO and GNRs@mSiO-DOX.

Unfortunately, these properties cannot be obtained easily for complex turbid media. In this study, a metamodeling approach has been proposed and applied for the fast and accurate estimation of the bulk optical properties from contactless and non-destructive hyperspectral scatter imaging (HSI) measurements.

Our results show that in the decomposition of CH2OO and anti-CH3C(H)OO, the predominant paths directly produce cis-HC(O)OH and syn-CH3C(O)OH acids with >110 kcal/mol exothermicities via loose roaming-like insertion TSs involving the terminal O atom and the neighboring C-H bonds. For syn-CH3C(H)OO, the major decomposition channel occurs by abstraction of a H atom from the CH3 group by the terminal O atom producing CH2C(H)O-OH.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA theoretical study of the mechanism and kinetics of the CH(X(2)Π) + H2C═O reaction was carried out by ab initio molecular orbital theory based on the CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVTZ//BHandHLYP/aug-cc-pVDZ method in conjunction with statistical theoretical kinetic VTST and RRKM Master Equation calculations. The potential energy surface for the cis/trans-HCOH + CH reactions was also examined. Calculated results show that the association reaction of CH and CH2O occurs by addition of the CH radical onto the oxygen atom, cycloaddition onto the C═O bond, and, for a small fraction, insertion of CH into a C-H bond, forming CH2C-O-CH, cyclic H2COCH, and CH2CHO, respectively.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA metamodeling approach is introduced and applied to efficiently estimate the bulk optical properties of turbid media from spatially resolved spectroscopy (SRS) measurements. The model has been trained on a set of liquid phantoms covering a wide range of optical properties representative for food and agricultural products and was successfully validated in forward and inverse mode on phantoms not used for training the model. With relative prediction errors of 10% for the estimated bulk optical properties the potential of this metamodeling approach for the estimation of the optical properties of turbid media from spatially resolved spectroscopy measurements has been demonstrated.
