Plastic pollution is a global problem affecting the environment and, consequently, people's well-being. Careful and timely end-of-life plastic recycling is certainly a way, albeit a partial one, to remedy the problem. The immediate identification and selection of the different types of plastic materials in the recycling process certainly facilitate its recovery and reuse, allowing the damage caused by plastic emission into the environment to be limited.

This article reports the results of a novel perioperative treatment implementing the gut microbiota to prevent anastomotic fistula and leakage (AL) in patients undergoing laparoscopic colorectal resections for cancer and represents the continuation of our pilot study on 60 cases. A series of 131 patients underwent elective colorectal surgery at the S. Eugenio Hospital (Rome-Italy) between December 1, 2020, and November 30, 2022, and received a perioperative preparation following the Microbiota Implementation to Reduce Anastomotic Colorectal Leaks (MIRACLe) protocol comprising oral antibiotics, mechanical bowel preparation and perioperative probiotics.

Ruthenium -heterocyclic carbene (Ru-NHC) complexes show interesting physico-chemical properties as catalysts and potential in medicinal chemistry, exhibiting multiple biological activities, among them anticancer, antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory. Herein, we designed and synthesized a new series of Ru-NHC complexes and evaluated their biological activities as anticancer, antibacterial, and antioxidant agents. Background: Survival benefits of self-reported recreational physical activity (PA) during cancer survivorship are well-documented in common cancer types, yet there are limited data on the associations between accelerometer-derived PA of all domains, sedentary behavior, and mortality in large, diverse cohorts of cancer survivors.

Methods: Participants included adults who reported a cancer diagnosis in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and wore an accelerometer for up to 7 days in 2003-2006. Participants were followed for subsequent mortality through 2015.

This article describes data related to the research paper entitled "ROMP of norbornene and oxanorbornene derivatives with pendant fluorophore carbazole and coumarin groups" [1]. Six novel norbornene and oxanorbornene dicarboximides derivatives functionalized with carbazole or coumarin moieties, are synthesized and investigated in the preparation of fluorescent polymers by Ring-Opening Metathesis Polymerization (ROMP). Pre-Olympic Games predictions commonly include an increase in population-based physical activity in the host city, as often stated in the bid, but the post-Olympic Games effects on physical activity have not been summarised. In this Series paper, we aim to do the following: examine mentions of a physical activity legacy in pre-Olympic bid documentation; analyse existing physical activity surveillance data collected before, during, and after the Olympic Games in hosting areas around the world; and evaluate Google Trends data surrounding the London 2012 Olympic Games as a case study of community interest in the topic of exercise during the time of the Olympic Games. Before 2007, little mention of physical activity was made in pre-Olympic Games documentation, but, after that, most documents had targets for population physical activity or sports participation.
